b) Programming undervoltage detection
The speed controller can be powered with a 6-cell NiMH drive battery (7.2 V rated voltage) or a 2-cell LiPo drive bat-
tery (7.4 V rated voltage).
If the vehicle uses a 2-cell LiPo drive battery, always check that the speed controller undervoltage detection
is enabled before operating the vehicle. Failure to do so can result in a deep discharge of the LiPo drive
battery and thus its permanent damage.
You will hear a beep when the transmitter and speed controller are switched on.
The beep is generated by the motor.
Beep " • – – – " (one short beep + 3 longer beeps): undervoltage detection disabled (NiMH drive battery)
Beep " • • – – – " (two short beeps + 3 longer beeps): undervoltage detection enabled (absolutely necessary for LiPo
drive battery)
Switching on undervoltage detection (for a LiPo drive battery):
• Switch on the transmitter.
• Switch off the speed controller.
• Keep the button (see arrow in the figure on the right)
on the speed controller pressed and then switch on the
speed controller (keep it pressed, do not release it!).
• If the motor beeps twice ("• •"), release the button im-
mediately. You will then hear three long beeps (" – – – ").
• Undervoltage detection is now enabled.
With undervoltage detection enabled, the
speed controller switches off the motor when
the battery voltage falls below 6.0 V (3.0 V per
LiPo cell). This protects a LiPo battery from det-
rimental deep discharge.
Switching off undervoltage detection (only for a NiMH drive battery):
• Switch on the transmitter.
• Switch off the speed controller.
• Keep the button on the speed controller pressed and then switch on the speed controller (keep it pressed, do not
release it!).
• If the motor beeps once ("•"), release the button immediately. You will then hear three long beeps (" – – – ").
• Undervoltage detection is now disabled.
When using a 6-cell NiMH drive battery, you should switch off undervoltage detection. Otherwise, you will
not be able to use the full battery capacity during operation of the vehicle and travel time will be shortened.
When the vehicle is powered by a NiMH battery, the driving mode should be set if the vehicle slows down
significantly.
