8. Charging the drive battery

• The product comes with a 6-cell NiMH drive battery and a suitable NiMH battery charger. To charge the drive bat-
tery, refer to the operating instructions for the charger.
Warning!
The NiMH battery charger should only be used to charge a NiMH drive battery. Attempting to charge
a LiPo drive battery with the NiMH battery charger may cause a fire or explosion!
A LiPo drive battery should only be charged with a suitable LiPo battery charger (and a NiMH rechargeable
battery with a NiMH battery charger only). So if you want to purchase a LiPo drive battery for the vehicle,
you will also need a suitable LiPo battery charger.
• The drive battery is empty when the product is shipped and must be charged. Several complete discharge and
charge cycles are required to ensure that the drive battery reaches its maximum performance.
For rechargeable batteries with NiMH or LiPo technology, recharging partially discharged batteries does not cause
any problems. A prior discharge is usually not required.
• High-quality drive batteries not only have a higher capacity, which allows you to operate your model vehicle much
longer, they also provide a higher output voltage under load. This gives the motor more power and results in better
acceleration and a higher speed.
• The drive battery heats up while charging/discharging (i.e. as you operate the vehicle). Wait until the rechargeable
battery has reached room temperature before charging it. The same applies after the rechargeable battery has
finished charging. Allow it to cool down before connecting it to the vehicle.
• Only use a charger that is designed for the type of drive battery used (e.g. NiMH or LiPo).
• Always remove the drive battery from the vehicle before recharging it.
