8 . OPERATING TROUBLE

Make sure that the pump is OFF before doing any work on it.
OPERATING TROUBLE
8.1 THE PUMP FAILS TO START
8.2 THE PUMP OPERATE BUT

8.4.WATER IN OIL
8.5.OIL IN THE MOTOR
PROBABLE CAUSES
a) No current:
b) Winding or cable open-circuit:
c) Rotor stalled (the motor "growls"):
d) Impeller obstructed by foreign
bodies:
e) The heat overload is triggered:
motor overloaded or jammed:
a) Discharge piping is obstructed:
b) Impeller obstructed by foreign
bodies:
c) The check valve is mounted
upside down:
a) Faulty electrical installation:
b) Water in motor:
c) Pump stalled:
d) The pump is hard to turn:
a) See Chapter 6.1:
a) Mechanical seal worn:
a) Check the line. If necessary, replace the fuses.
Close the circuit-breaker or the switch on the control box.
b) Check the resistances between the cable ends; if necessary, replace
the cable (caution: when this is done, make sure all connections are
right.
To replace the cable, use only a original cable.
c) Clean the hydraulics (casing + impeller).
Dismantle the motor part if necessary.
d) Dismantle and clean.
e) Check the pump part.
a) Dismantle and clean the piping.
b) (See 8.1.c).
c) Mount the check-valve with the flap up wards.
a) Check the whole electrical installation.
b) Replace the defective components (have the motor oven-dried by a
specialist).

d) Clean the hydraulics.
