On your Guardian Connect app, Guardian Connect alerts appear as colored popup
messages. When the Guardian Connect app is not open, or your device is locked, the
style and appearance of alerts depends on the notification settings on your mobile
device.
CAUTION: Do not turn off notifications or enable the Do Not Disturb setting on
your mobile device. Doing so may result in missing important alerts
requiring your immediate attention.
CAUTION: Do not force the Guardian Connect app to quit. Doing so will stop
transmission of sensor glucose data, and you will not receive any
alerts. If the app is running in the background on your mobile device,
you will still receive sensor glucose data and may still receive alerts
depending on your mobile device's notification settings.
CAUTION: Medtronic cannot guarantee that your mobile device will always allow
for the Guardian Connect app to run in the background. If the mobile
device automatically closes your Guardian Connect app, you may
receive a 'Lost Communication' notification. Particularly when running
several applications at once, you should not rely on alerts from
Guardian Connect and you should periodically check if the app is still
running.
Depending on the kind of underlying problems, Guardian Connect alerts may be grouped
into glucose monitoring alerts (displayed as red and orange popup messages within the
app) and error and system status alerts (displayed as blue popup messages).
Error and system status alerts notify you when a new sensor is required,
communication with the transmitter is lost, calibration is required, or other conditions exist
that require your attention to ensure successful operation of the Guardian Connect
system. Except for calibration reminders (Calibrate By alert), you do not need to set these
alerts, as the system automatically generates them when the related conditions occur.
Glucose monitoring alerts notify you if your sensor glucose values are changing at a
particular rate, are approaching, or have reached or exceeded a low or high limit that you
have specified. To receive these alerts, you need to set your glucose limits and define the
alert settings as described in Alert settings, on page 11.
