Closing the fastener system
When closing the fastener system, avoid pulling the zipper
tab sideways.
Pull the fastener chains together by hand.
Then the zipper tab will slide more easily.
Make sure that no foreign objects such as shirt, jacket,
threads, etc. get caught between the links of the chain
when closing the fastener system.

Preparation for use

3.5.1
Preparing the chemical protective suit
NOTICE

Dräger recommends that you keep the flat bags in
which the chemical protective suit was delivered for
later storage purposes.
1. Check for leaks before using the suit for the first time in
order to detect any damage due to transport. Observe the
maintenance
intervals
page 30).
2. Place the chemical protective suit flat on the ground and
examine visually (see chap. 5.2 on page 30).
WARNING
!
Do not use a damaged chemical protective suit. If you
do, you risk death or serious injury.
3. If fitted, check the functioning of the ventilation unit and its
connection to the compressed air breathing apparatus.
4. Apply the antimist agent "klar-pilot" to the outside of the
facepiece. If the suit has no antifog visor, apply it also to the
inside of the visor.
3.5.2
Donning the chemical protective suit

Get a second person to assist you with donning the
suit.
1. Put on underclothing (moisture-wicking occupational
clothing, cotton gloves).

Dräger recommends that you insert the trouser legs of
the underclothing into the socks to prevent the trouser
legs from slipping.
To prevent the cotton gloves from slipping down,
attach them with insulating tape to your wrist.
2. Don the self-contained breathing apparatus and full
facepiece and check their function.
3. Don the safety helmet or mask/helmet combination.

4. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with gastight
integrated gloves.
a. Without shoes, first step into the right trouser leg, then
into the left trouser leg.
b. Pull the oversocks over the socks, if applicable.
c. Don the safety boots.
5. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with gastight
integrated safety boots: without shoes, first step into the
right trouser leg and into the safety boot, then into the left
trouser leg and the safety boot.
6. Pull the chemical protective suit up to your waist.
7. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a ventilation
unit:
a. Connect the air supply on the inside of the chemical
protective suit.
b. Close the integrated waist belt.
8. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with D-connect:
close the integrated waist belt.
9. If the chemical protective suit is equipped with a crotch
strap: hook the crotch strap onto the waist belt of the self-
contained breathing apparatus. Pull the end of the crotch
strap to adjust it to the desired length.

10. Pull the hood over the head and insert your right arm into
the right sleeve and glove. Slide the backpack of the
chemical protective suit over the respiratory protective
device. Insert your left arm into the left sleeve and glove.
11. Connect the lung demand valve to the facepiece.
12. Close the fastener system. Always pull the zipper tab in the
direction of the zipper mechanism. Do not use force!
13. Close the zipper flap.
14. Fit the overgloves, if applicable:
a. Pull the K-mex Gigant overglove over the arm ring.
b. Pull the Tricotril overglove over the arm ring and secure
it with the corresponding rubber ring.

Observe during operation

CAUTION
!
A build-up of heat in the chemical protective suit can
result in circulatory collapse, therefore, if necessary,
wear a cooling vest or use a suitable cooling system.
Never start a mission alone!
Observe the operating time, limitations and specific
national regulations. The maximum operating time may
also depend on the used respiratory protective device and
the operating conditions.
If no compressed air hoses are connected in protective
suits with ventilation units, close the ports with a protective
cap to avoid contamination.
If you are working with refrigerated media of temperatures
below -40°C,

If sight is obstructed by fogging or icing on the inside of the
visor: pull one hand out of the sleeve and wipe the visor,
e.g., with a cleaning cloth. The cleaning cloth can be stored
in the inside pocket.
Leave the contaminated area immediately in a case of
emergency. Wait to open the fastener system until you
reach a clean area.
