3. Starting the clock and setting the time

3.1

IMPULSE MIN 24V slave clock

A time distribution network emits only impulses. You need to stop the network and set all slave
clocks to the same time before starting it.
To set the time on the clock, adjust the thumbwheel located on the movement at the back of the
removable clock face.
Leave for two minutes.
If the clock – or one of the clocks on a double-sided assembly – is one minute behind time, switch
the connections on the terminal block at terminals 1 and 2 SYNC and move the clock forward by
two minutes. The same impulse will be either positive or negative depending how it is connected,
and the movement's starting position will determine whether or not the first impulse is received.
3.2

AFNOR/IRIG-B time code slave clock

A clock synchronised by AFNOR signal operates as follows:
When first powered on, the clock hands will hold at the 12 o'clock position until a time message
is received. Once the time data is validated (three successive coherent messages received), the
clock will automatically set itself to the correct time using rapid impulses.
Lack of signal over a one-hour period is permitted, during which time the clock will operate auton-
omously. If the signal is restored in the meantime, the clock will adjust itself. Beyond this one-hour
period, the hands will reset to 12 o'clock until data is received.
In the event of mains power failure:
The lighting (if option chosen) will turn off. It will turn back on once power is restored.
Without emergency battery
The hands will stop. Once power is restored, the hands will reset to 12 o'clock.
As soon as time data is received, the clock will reset to the correct time.
With emergency battery
The second hand will stop. The hour and minute hands will continue to operate for one hour.
After this hour, the hands will reset to 12 o'clock. As soon as power is restored and time data is
received, the clock will reset itself to the correct time.
