Audio output

You will set the type of sound output here, if you have connected your DVD player to a digital audio
amplifier with an optical cable. The sound will be played back through the OPTICAL OUT or the
AUDIO IN/OUT connection.
ANALOG: The sound will only be emitted in analog; the sound through the OPTICAL OUT
connection will have been deactivated.
SPDIF/RAW: Choose this setting if your DVD player has been connected to an amplifier by means of
an optical digital cable. Discs that have been recorded in the Dolby Digital, DTS or MPEG format will
be played back through the connection.
SPDIF/PCM: Choose this setting if your DVD player has been connected to a digital dual-channel
amplifier. Discs that have been recorded in the Dolby Digital, DTS or MPEG format will be modulated
to a dual-channel sound and played back through the connection.

Earphones

You can switch the earphones on or off here.

Image settings

You can set the brightness, contrast, colour tone and saturation here. The respective middle values
will have been selected in the factory setting.

Digital Settings

Dynamic range

The Dolby Digital sound format supports a dynamic setting with which you will be able to set the
volume difference between quiet and loud passages in five steps in a scale from OFF to FULL.
OFF: The sound will be unchanged, i.e. the loud passages and bass notes will be loud, but quiet
passages will be reproduced quietly ('cinema sound'). This setting is only suitable if no-one can be
disturbed.
FULL: The volume difference will be minimized, i.e. loud passages will be reduced and quiet
passages will be increased. This setting is appropriate at night, for example.
