Mirror contact glasses for diagnostic purposes

One mirror contact glass 90 / 90 S
For the examination of the anatomical conditions in
the area of the front of the iris. This lens weighs 4.2
grams. Optic made of acrylic glass.
The expanse and form of the iridocorneal angle
can only be ascertained by employing a narrow slit
beam.
The slit lamp 900
, with its swivelling and declinable
®
illumination, is primarily capable of providing an as-
sessment of the expanse of the entire angle of the
iris, which is of special importance in glaucoma dia-
gnostics.
Examination of the angle of the iris
A magnification of 10x is best for initial adjustments
and 16x during the actual examination.
Illumination of the iridocorneal angle is effected with
a narrow slit via the contact glass mirror. An angle of
around 10° is set between the illumination and the mi-
croscope (with the slit lamp 900
position). When an angle greater than 15° is employ-
ed between the microscope and the illumination, then
the slit image will not be correctly focussed at the nor-
mal setting of the ocular.
An unfocussed slit at a degree less than 15° can be
corrected by altering the position of the iridocorneal
angle lens.
Examination of the lateral iridocorneal sections under
diffused illumination conditions of the sclera sinus is
also possible. For this, the illumination (after slacke-
ning the centering screw on the slit lamp 900
be moved away from the central position.
