3. STARTING THE CLOCK AND SETTING THE TIME
3.1 IMPULSE MIN 24V slave clock
A time distribution network only emits impulses. It is necessary to stop the network and set all
slave clocks to the same time before starting up.
To set the time on the clock, adjust the thumb wheel located on the movement at the back of the
removable clock face.
Allow to run for 2 minutes.
If the clock – or one of the clocks in the case of a double-sided mounting – is one minute late,
switch the connections on the terminal block at terminals 1 and 2 SYNC and move the clock
forward by two minutes.
The same impulse will be either positive or negative depending on how it is connected, and
the movement's starting position will determine whether or not the first impulse is received.
3.2 AFNOR/IRIG-B time code and radio slave clock
A clock synchronised by AFNOR or radio synchronised via an ALS/DCF or GPS/DCF antenna
operates as follows:
When first powered on, the clock hands set at noon until a time message is received. Once the
data has been validated (three successive coherent messages received), the clock automatically
sets itself to the correct time with rapid impulses.
On a clock synchronised by an AFNOR signal:
A lack of signal of 1 hour is allowed; during that time, the clock operates on its own. If the signal is
restored in the meantime, the clock will adjust itself. Beyond this one-hour period, the hands will
set at noon until data is received.
On a radio-synchronised clock:
Once synchronised, the clock operates autonomously on its time base.
In the event of mains failure:
The lighting (if option chosen) switches off. It will switches on once power is restored.
Without backup battery
The hands will stop. Once power is restored, the hands will reset to 12 o'clock. As soon as time
data is received, the clock will reset itself to the correct time.
With backup battery
The second hand stops.
The hour and minute hands will continue to operate for one hour.
After this hour, the hands will reset to 12 o'clock.
As soon as power is restored and time data is received, the clock resets itself to the correct time.
