Checking the specific gravity
Determine the specific gravity of each sep-
arate cell using a commercial hydrometer.
This specific gravity gives an indication
of the state of charge (see Table). The
specific gravity in all cells should be
at least 1.200 kg/l, while the difference
between the highest and lowest readings
should be less than 0.050 kg/l. If this is
not the case, then charge the battery, or
replace it.

Keep naked flames and sparks well away!
Battery acid is a corrosive liquid. Ensure that it cannot come into contact
with skin or clothing!
