• check that hinges between
back and front sides are
not damaged, loose, or
corroded;
• check that the lock stays in
horizontal position, no rear
bars and corner braces are
missing and are not bent,
loose, corroded, or dam-
aged;
• check that there are no rung
hooks missing, damaged,
loose or corroded and that
they can be hooked onto
the rungs properly;
• check that guide brackets
are not missing, damaged,
loose or corroded and that
they latch into the strut
correctly;
• check that step feet/base
caps are not missing,
loose, heavily worn, cor-
roded, or damaged;
• check that the entire step
is free from contaminants
(dirt, paint, oil, grease, etc.);
• check that the locking
catches (if there are any)
are not damaged or cor-
roded and that they func-
tion correctly;
• check that no platform
parts or fasteners are
missing and that the plat-
form (if there are any) is not
damaged or corroded.
Should any of the checks
listed above prove unsatis-
factory, the step should NOT
be used.
Repair and
maintenance
• Keep the product clean
and free from foreign mate-
rials since these materials
can destroy hinges and
their functioning.
• Oil the hinging mechanism
regularly.
• Repairs and maintenance
of the product must be
performed by a profession-
al and in accordance with
the instructions.
NOTE: A professional is
someone who has the
knowledge of performing
repairs or maintenance
work, by having attended
a manufacturer's training
session, for instance.
