Purpose of Use and Function
A model railway system has a large number of power consumers that are connected to the digital voltage,
examples being locomotives, points, signals, lighting, etc. All of these components need to be supplied
with energy. The performance of the central control track output no longer suffices so that boosters have
to be used. These supply max. 3 A to new track and control sections. If the RailCom option is activated
(activated as standard), with DCC packets, the booster generates a so-called RailCom cutout that enables
RailCom local detectors or RailCom-supported track occupied detectors such as the 10808 Z21 detector
to be used.
The Z21-Boosters was especially designed for use with the Z21 product line but it is also compatible with
older ROCO control centres and boosters. It is possible however that this necessitates a deactivation of the
RailCom in the Z21-Booster, please refer to Chapter: Connecting the Booster – Track Output and Chapter:
STOP Button and Configuration.
