Note: Wash the grill grate (3)
with warm water and mild deter-
gent before first use.
Note: Heat the product before
using it for the first time. The fuel
must be heated for at least 40
minutes until red-hot.
Note: Do not put the food on
the grill for cooking until the fuel
is covered with a layer of ash!
1. Open the lid of the base unit (2)
and remove the grill grate (3).
2. Pile up to 0.6kg of the fuel on
the fuel grate (4) in the fire
bowl (5).
3. Place one or two pieces of sol-
id kindling on the pile you've
made. Light these from above.
4. Close the lid of the base unit
and open the smoke vent (2b)
and the air intake (2c).
5. As soon as the desired temper-
ature has been reached, set the
smoke vent and air intake as
described under the heading
"Temperature regulation" .
6. Insert the grill grate in and
begin grilling.
Note: Always wear grilling
gloves when you touch the grill
grate.
Temperature regulation
NOTICE!
Avoiding material
damage!
Improper handling can lead to
damage to the product.
• When cooking food at a low
temperature make sure that the
product maintains the desired
temperature. The product can
take several hours to cool
down.

GB/IE
The temperature is regulated by
means of the smoke vent (2b)
and air intake (2c) (see table
"Temperature regulation"). The
wider the openings are set and
the greater the airflow into the
product, the higher the tempera-
ture inside will become.
To regulate the grilling tempera-
ture you must reduce the airflow.
To do this, close the smoke vent
and the air intake.
When you have fully closed the
smoke vent and the air intake, no
more oxygen can get inside and
the fuel is extinguished.
Check the inside temperature with
the thermometer (2a).

WARNING!
Risk of injury!
Improper handling of the product
can lead to personal injuries.
• Injury may occur because of
a flash flame. Do not open the
lid of the base unit too quickly.
At first raise the lid only about
25mm and wait a few seconds
before opening fully.
• The product gets very hot.
During operation never touch
it with your bare hands. Use
suitable grilling gloves.
NOTICE!
Avoiding material
damage!
Improper handling can lead to
damage to the product.
• The product is ready for use imme-
diately. Avoid pre-treatments such
as burning-in or applying oil.
• Over time the product may
become discoloured, turning
dark. This is because of smoke
and combustion.
• Do not put the food on the grill
too soon. A layer of ash has to
form on the fuel.
For direct grilling, which means
cooking the food directly over the
heat source, proceed as follows:
Note: This method is suitable
for foods that need less than 25
minutes for cooking (e.g. steaks,
cutlets, vegetables).
1. Open the smoke vent and the
air intake.
2. Heat up the fuel and set the
grill grate (3) in place.
3. Place the food on the grill
grate.
4. Close the lid of the base
unit (2) and open it only to
turn the food over or to check
its condition. To cook the food
evenly turn it half-way through
the cooking time.
5. Regulate the air supply with the
smoke vent and the air intake.
Note: For examples and cook-
ing times consult the table "Grill-
ing". The cooking times given
here are merely guidelines. Times
can vary depending on taste and
quality of the food.
