Band for "iliotibial band" (ITB) syndrome
Description/Destination
The IT BAND provides support and adjustable compression targeted
at the lower part of the TFL: tensor fascia latae (flat muscle of the outer
thigh). The band helps to relieve pain related to so-called "iliotibial band
syndrome" or "ITB syndrome".
Iliotibial band syndrome (ITBS) is an inflammation of the iliotibial
band (ITB), caused by repeated flexion/extension movements of the
knee causing pain on the outer side of the knee during effort, such as
running for instance.
The device is intended only for the treatment of the indications listed
and for patients whose measurements correspond to the product's
sizing.
Tightening band with removable pad to help limit the pain of the
so-called "iliotibial band syndrome".
The device is composed of:
- a removable pad positioned on the iliotibial band,
- a tightening loop to help with the adjustment,
- a hook and loop system for adjustment and support.
This device can be used when resuming sports activities.
Composition
Textile components: elastane - synthetic rubber (polychloroprene) -
polyester - thermoplastic polyurethane - ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA).
Rigid components: polyamide - polyoxymethylene.
Properties/Mode of action
Targeted compression thanks to the pad which is placed on the ilio-
tibial band to help limit friction.
Proprioceptive effect thanks to the combination of the anti-slip and the
tightening systems which provide compression and support.
Indications
Pain or tendinitis of the iliotibial band (so-called "Iliotibial band
syndrome" or "ITB syndrome").
Contraindications
Do not apply the product in direct contact with broken skin.
Do not use in the event of known allergy to any of the components.
Do not use in the event of major venous thromboembolic history
without thromboprophylaxis.
Precautions
Verify the product's integrity before every use.
Do not use the device if it is damaged.
Ensure that the knee circumference is compatible with the product
circumference.
In the event of discomfort, significant hindrance, pain, variation in limb
volume, abnormal sensations or change in colour of the extremities,
remove the device and consult a healthcare professional.
In the event of any modification in the product's performance, remove
it and consult a healthcare professional.
Consult a healthcare professional in case of uncertain diagnosis.
For hygiene and performance reasons, do not re-use the product for
another patient.
In case of history of venous or lymphatic disorders, consult a healthcare
professional.
