Possible Reason
No picture
The desired source input was not selected at
the AV preamplifier.
The display unit (TV, etc.) was not switched on.
The video output of the AV preamplifier was
not connected to the display unit (TV, etc.).
The signal cable between the preamplifier
and the display unit (TV, etc.) is defective or
the plug is loose.
The video cable was not connected to the
correct input terminal on the display unit.
The desired input channel was not selected
at the display unit.
The video input of the disply unit was not
configured correctly.
The AV preamplifier, display unit or source
unit is defective.
Bad-quality picture
The picture system setting (PAL, NTSC) of the
display unit was wrongly selected at the signal
source.
The picture mode (Progressive Scan or
Interlaced Scan) was wrongly selected on
the source unit.
The setup settings of the source unit or the
video display have been wrongly selected in
respect of the video signal properties
(e.g. aspect ratio).

The line-of-sight between the remote control
and the unit is obstructed, the range was
exceeded or the hand unit was operated from
a position too far to one side.
The unit is not switched on.

Use the input selector buttons on the remote
control or the multifunction knob on the unit
to set the input channel to which the source
is connected.
Switch the display unit on.

Correct the input selection.
Correct the settings of the display unit with
regard to the video input and the video
signal format used.
By playing in conjunction with other units,
check which system component has failed
and contact the relevant dealer.
Correct these settings.
Correct these settings.
Correct this at the display unit (TV, projector,
etc.) or the source.
Check and replace the batteries if necessary.
Try to point the remote control at the front of

GLOSSARY
RCA
RCA is the American name for coaxial Cinch con-
nectors and sockets, originally the abbreviation for
"Radio Corporation of America", the name of a
United States company. Both the plug and cable
consist of a rod-shaped inner lead and a cylindri-
cal-shaped outer lead. This enables a mono audio
signal or a video signal to be transmitted.
Compared to the XLR plug connector, this type of
connection is also called "unbalanced signal con-
nection".
XLR
Also: „Symmetrical Connection" or „balanced". A
plug-and-socket connection for audio devices. It is
round (with approx. 1.5 cm in diameter) and has 3
contacts/pins. XLR is an alternative connection to
RCA used to transmit NF-Signals in professional

audio equipment. The advantage is one additional
transmission path for the same but phase inverted
signal. If the receiving device can process this, all
inducted noise received in the cable screen can be
eliminated. The signal voltage level used for this
type of transfer is higher, so it is a more robust less
sensitive signal path.
Dynamics
The volume difference between the quietest and the
loudest sounds possible in audio signals (without
distortion or transition to noise). Dolby-Digital and
DTS soundtracks allow very high dynamics and pro-
duce excellent cinema-like effects.
