able dangers. Your decisions and activities in this sport are your own responsibility. Please familiarise
yourself with all associated risks before attempting climbing of any sort. SALEWA recommends that
before attempting any climbing, you should obtain training and advice from suitably qualified persons
(for example mountain guides or climbing teachers). In addition it is the user's responsibility to keep
himself or herself informed of the correct techniques for carrying out safe rescue operations. The
manufacturer bears no liability in the case of any misuse or abuse of this product. Also check for the
appropriate certification of all other pieces of equipment.

B INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Only use the product for the purpose for which it was constructed and never burden it beyond its limits.
: Danger to life
: Risk of injury
: Correct use
This product helps to secure ropes while ice climbing.
It was designed to protect against risk of falling during mountaineering and climbing and corresponds
to the standard EN 568:2015.
"Class B" carabiners have been developed for the use in sport and alpine climbing. Every Salewa
carabiner has been individually tested and it complies to EN 12275:2013 standard.
The Salewa slings comply to EN 566:2017 Standard.
See diagram B for correct use.
WARNING: We have not shown all possible misuses.
Please note: How safe an ice screw is secured in the ice depends on the condition of the ice itself.
When setting the ice screw, always ensure that the ice is compact, firm, thick and has a uniform
consistency with no running water behind it. Avoid crumbling, thin or split ice or ice with air pockets.
If you sense hollow ice (loss of resistence when screwing in), or if slits develop in a star shape away
from the ice screw, remove the ice screw and choose a new spot.
Never knock the ice screw against rock, an ice pick or crampons as this can damage the product.
We recommend left handed people unravel the carabiner and rethread it so that the carabiner is
pointing left.
C SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
Before using the product, check all components carefully. See diagram C.
The instructions for use supplied with the product are always to be stored with the product. This prod-
uct is only to be used by appropriately trained and/or competent persons, or when the user is under
the direct supervision of such a qualified person.
Please make sure that all components being used are compatible. We recommend the exclusive use
of climbing equipment which complies with the relevant standards, for example: EN 892 for ropes, EN
12277 for harnesses, EN 13089 for ice axes.
WARNING
If there is the least doubt about the safety of the product, it is to be replaced immediately.
A product which has been subject to a fall impact force is not to be used again.
WARNING
Do not use the device astride sharp edges.
D LIFESPAN
The lifespan of the product is dependent on a number of factors, such as the manner and
frequency of use, UV exposure, moisture, ice, effects of weather, storage conditions, and
dirt (sand, salt, etc.). Under extreme conditions the lifespan can be reduced to a single usage or even
less, if the equipment has suffered damage (for example during transport) before ever being used.
Please note: Products manufactured from synthetic fibres are subject to ageing even when not used.
This ageing depends mainly on environmental conditions as well as the impact of UV light.
Indications of the product's maximum lifespan:
Never: Correct storage: up to 10 years since production
Once or twice a year: up to 7 years
Once a month: up to 5 years
More times a month: up to 3 years
Every week: up to 1 year
Almost daily: up to 0.5 year
Frayed yarn clearly means that the product must be replaced.
E CLEANING, STORAGE, TRANSPORT AND SERVICING
See DIAGRAM E for guidelines on correct storage, care and transport.
Do not allow this product to come into contact with aggressive chemicals (e. g. battery acid, solvents)
or expose it to extreme temperatures as these events can have a negative impact on the mechanical
propertys of the materials.
Disinfect the material only with substances which have no impact on the synthetic material used.
There are no extra precautions to be taken during transport, apart from the measures already men-
tioned (protect from sunlight, chemicals and dirt).
Specially designed protective bags or transport containers (rope sacks) can be used.
The sling with holster can be replaced:
When they are worn out, replace them exclusively with new original components from Salewa.
Using two screwdrivers, click the black plastic clip out of the metal ring. Now you can pull the sling
over the thread of the screw. Insert the replacement sling over the thread of the screw and fasten it
by clicking the plastic clip into the metal ring. (see Figure E).
