5 Electrical connection
5.1 Installing the retrofit wiring harness
– Remove the installed wire grommet or "blind grommet" -1-
and discard.
– If necessary, route the existing wire through the opening -Ar-
row- in the wire grommet of the retrofit wiring harness -1-.
– If the opening -Arrow- in the wire grommet of the retrofit wir-
ing harness -1- is not required, seal it with the "BUTYL" seal
set provided.
– Install the wire grommet of the retrofit wiring harness -1-.
– Route the retrofit wiring harness -1- to the bracket of the
"electric socket for the tow coupling" and secure using the
cable clip -4- and cable ties -3-.
– Bolt the "electric socket for the tow coupling" -2- to the corre-
sponding bracket.
– Screw the eye of the earth wire for the "electric socket for
the tow coupling" to the earth point on the left in the luggage
compartment -arrow- and tighten to the tightening torque.

– Route retrofit wiring harness -1- along the standard wiring
harness to the slot for the trailer detector control unit -J345-
-2-.
Secure the retrofit wiring harness -1- at the appropriate point
using cable ties -arrows-.
