→ Safety and good seamanship
䗂 Check the wind range of your kite and adapt it to your real abilities. Never underestimate the pulling
power of your kite. Even a beginner's kite can develop a significant pulling force which is beyond the
user's control.
䗂 When practicing, keep up to date with the weather forecasts and the configuration of your spot (wind
side, off or on). Beware of strong winds, especially those with strong gusts. Don't use your kite at sea in
offshore winds unless there is a safety device on the water. The perfect conditions are a steady cross-
shore wind of 15-25 knots.
䗂 For your first sessions, and when until you can judge the wind ranges and conditions accurately :
Be careful on the high wind range and don't go to sea if you don't have the right kite for this wind range.
You take risks for yourself, for others, but also for the equipment.
䗂 Use your kite in a safe environment. The downwind space must be completely clear of any
obstacles. You should stay away from walls, buildings, or any other structures. Take the necessary
time to learn how to use the equipment in optimum safety conditions.
䗂 Don't overestimate your abilities. Make sure you are in a good physical condition and have no medical
contraindications. Incorrect use can cause serious injury or death to the rider or third parties.
䗂 Do not use your kite in a shorebreak or in waves that are too powerful. The risk of drowning, cuts from
lines, or panic attacks is real.
䗂 When sailing, always keep an eye on the water to avoid any collisions or failure to comply with the rules
of priority at sea. Bear in mind that you are potentially dangerous to yourself and to others.
䗂 Be extremely careful if you're kiting with a board and a foil. GONG SUP 1 SASU declines all responsibility
for damage caused by inappropriate use of the kite or by imprudence.
䗂 GONG strongly advises you to take out insurance covering kitesurfing and to be a member of a club
affiliated to a federation or association recognized for this sport.
䗂 Equip yourself with protection: helmet, leash, impact vest, cut-resistant lycra... Better too much than not
enough!
䗂 Use of the kite outside the marine environment is your responsibility and strongly not recommended
(skate, ski, snow...).
䗂 Kites are not parachutes or hang gliders!
䗂 When using your kite, always use common sense, respect nature and try to help others with caution
when they are in difficulty.
䗂 All our kites are fitted with an identification label so that you can enter your details in accordance with
current legislation.
