SafETY INSTRUCTIONS

• Use the Bold Buddy's only on suitable surfaces that are smooth, clean, dry and as free from
traffic as possible. Always give due consideration to other traffic and remember that there are
restrictions for skaters in the Road Traffic Ordinance.
• Do not make any changes in the Bold Buddy's that may compromise safety.
• The self-locking effect of self-securing nuts and axles can reduce due to frequent loosening and
tightening of the connecting links.
• Before you begin – Ensure that all fasteners and locking parts are intact and tight.
• WARNINGS! This product is not a toy! Since riding with the Bold Buddies, as in the case of many
comparable sports, is a sport with relatively high risk of injury, you should in principal always use
full protective gear. Always wear a hand and wrist guard, knee and elbow pads and reflecting
clothes and a helmet while using your Bold Buddy's. However, please remember that wearing
complete safety gear cannot guarantee 100% protection. HUDORA also provides protectors,
helmets and reflecting products. For more information, visit our http://www.hudora.de/.
USER INSTRUCTIONS
ADJUSTING THE SIZE: In order to adjust the width of the Bold Buddies, you should use the enclo-
sed tool to loosen the two screws S1 and S2 in the middle of the Bold Buddies. (Fig. 1) You should
then concomitantly pull both roles outwardly apart (Fig. 2), until the Bold Buddies have the required
width for the shoes that are intended to be used. The shoes have to firmly sit between both rolls of
the Bold Buddies and should not be capable of slipping. It is recommended to first try out the shoes
in the Bold Buddies (Fig. 3). Once the proper width has been determined, the screws should again
be firmly tightened in the desired setting.
ATTACHING THE BRAKES: The brakes can if desired, be attached to both Bold Buddies. You should
for this purpose carefully pull the lower edge of the braking device apart and then insert the brakes
from above on to the tread surface between the rolls so that the brakes are hooked in.
TIGHTENING THE BOLD BUDDIES: Use the back part of your shoe to step into the opening of Bold
Buddy. Lead the Power strap over your foot, and fasten the buckle on the edge of the Bold Buddy.
The strap can if necessary also be adjusted in size. Do the same with the other foot.
RIDING TECHNIQUE: Adjust your speed to your riding skills. You should initially learn how to glide,
ride along bends and how to brake before you dare to try out an aggressive riding style. Avoid
precipitous terrain as well as much too slippery, dusty, stony and wet terrain. Getting to learn so-
mething new is always difficult and most accidents happen to „beginners" within the first ten mi-
nutes. One should be extremely careful during this phase! You should initially exercise some of the
important skills on an old carpet in order to accustom yourself with the Bold Buddies, before you
venture out on asphalt. Allow us to hereby render you assistance. In the starting position you
should stand up straight and place one foot slightly displaced, a hand's width in front of the other.
HUDORA | Jägerwald 13 | 42897 Remscheid | Germany | www.hudora.de
Move your arms slightly forward, and concomitantly relieve the toes of the front foot / the ball of the
front foot from the ground, so that your weight is shifted to the heel of your front foot. Use your arms
to balance out this position. Once you feel reasonably safe with your balance, relieve the toes of the
rear foot / the ball of the rear foot from the ground; so that your weight is shifted to the heel of your
rear foot. Use your arms to balance out this position. Allow us to now subsequently you assistance
on how to generate momentum in order to glide or how to push yourself off a wall etc. With prac-
tice, you can later be able to start on the onset by shifting your weight to the rear while carrying out
the ride movement. Take time off to familiarize yourself with the ride features of your heel rolls. You
should subsequently only exercise on clean, leveled asphalt when you feel safe. Avoid steep slopes,
roads with traffic and difficult surfaces. Depending on the level of your riding technique, you can
increase the degree of difficulty of the slopes and the surfaces. Learn the braking technique.
BRAKING: You can brake in two different ways. On the one hand with the mounted braking device,
whereby just as inline skating, you use your heel in the Bold Buddy to press the brake downwards,
the brake thereby makes contact with the ground and stops the movement. On the other hand you
can brake by pressing the toes / balls of the feet downwards. You hereby have to initially move the
toes / ball of the rear foot downwards, and only then subsequently do the same with the toes / ball
of the front foot. Practice braking when riding slowly until you master it.

ments, cannot be damaged, and cannot injure anyone. Remove sharp edges resulting from usage

Bold Buddy's.
CHANGING THE ROLLS AND BEARINGS (Fig. 4)
1. Roller | 2. Spacer | 3. Ball Bearing | 4. Washer | 5. Axle Winding | 6. Axle Screw
Rolls and bearings are available as accessories and can be replaced independent of each other, in
case they are damaged or worn out. Take note when changing the rolls that the bearing is detached
from the old roll and inserted in to the new roll. You should thereby follow Fig. 4. Your Bold Buddies
are equipped with precision bearings that during the production, have under high pressure been
filled with fat. For this reason, they only ride easily and fast when subjected to a load. The ball
bearings have to be replaced as soon as grinding noises can be heard. You should however under
no circumstances pull the ball bearings apart.
