BEfORE STaRTING, PLEaSE TaKE SOME SafEGUaRDS
As most of the games involve movement, there should not be any sharp edges or objects in the
playing area which could cause injuries.
The playing area you choose should be large enough to ensure that the children cannot
impede or injure one another.
When in the garden in particular, make sure that the children are wearing clothes which they are
allowed to get dirty.
Make sure to give the children sufficient breaks.
Make sure the game parts are not used in any way which could injure the children (e.g. by being
thrown).
WARNINGS! Not suitable for children under 36 months due to small swallowable parts and long
cords. Choking hazard. Strangulation hazard. Keep away from fire!
SUGGESTED GaMES
Here are a few suggested games which you can play with our party set. The children can play as
individuals or can be arranged into teams. Having pen and paper to hand is a good idea in order to
write down the results of the individual rounds and to declare a winner at the end.
1. Bump bag
The children stand in a circle, facing inwards, and start to say the following rhyme out loud: "Don't
turn, just stay, the bump bag's on its way, If you laugh or turn, you may have to run and run." One child
is the bump bag and walks around the circle of children with a cushion. As inconspicuously as pos-
sible, he should let the cushion fall behind one of the children. If the child notices the cushion behind
him, he should pick it up and run after the "bump bag" child who will be trying to run around and reach
the spot that has now become available. If he succeeds in reaching the spot, the other child is now the
bump bag. However, if the child catches up with the bump bag, the bump bag must go into the middle
of the circle and stay there until another child has to go into the middle. If a child does not notice that
the cushion has been left behind him and the bump bag manages to make a complete circle, the bump
bag taps the child three times on the back and says: "One, two, three, you're in!" Now this child must
sit in the middle and wait until it is another child's turn to sit there.
2. Egg puffing
Take all objects off a (round, if possible) tabletop. All players should sit closely around the table and a
plastic egg should be placed in the middle. The children must now puff as hard as they can in order to
blow the egg away from them. If the egg falls off the table in front of a player, he gets a penalty point.
3. Egg and spoon races
Each team gets one egg and a spoon of the same colour. An imaginary start line is laid out using the
pegs and marker tape and a turning point is laid out with two more. The children must balance the
egg on the spoon without holding on to it with their finger. They must go once to the turning point and
return. When they get back to the start line they must hand on the egg and spoon to the next child. If
the egg falls off the spoon, they have to start all over again. The team that is the first to complete the
number of rounds specified wins.
Another version: Increase the level of difficulty by laying out an obstacle course which the children
have to complete (going under or over tables, having to lie down and get up again,...)
4. Three-legged race
Two players stand next to each other for the three-legged race. Their closest two legs are tied to-
gether in the middle with the hook and loop bands. The two partners now have to run the distance
without the band falling off. Otherwise, they have to go back and start again. The team that is the first
to complete the number of rounds specified wins.
Another version: Increase the level of difficulty by laying out an obstacle course which the children
have to complete (going under or over tables, having to lie down and get up again,...)
5. Sack races
One child from each team gets into the sack. When the start signal is given, all players begin jumping
over the distance. The team or player that is the first to complete the number of rounds specified wins.
6. Partner race with an egg
Two players from each team balance an egg between their foreheads. The two partners now have
to run the distance together without the egg falling down. Otherwise, they have to go back and start
again. The team that is the first to complete the number of rounds specified wins.
Another version: Increase the level of difficulty by laying out an obstacle course which the children
have to complete (going under or over tables, having to lie down and get up again,...)
7. Hot/Cold
The children pair up into teams of two. One child from the team puts on a blindfold. A player from the
other team hides an egg within a specified area (child's room, garden,...). Now the player who can
see must guide the "blind" player to where the egg is hidden by shouting "hot" if he is getting close
and "cold" when he is getting further away. He can also say "warm", "warmer", "colder", "hotter".
The team that is quickest to find the egg wins.
Another version: This game is even funnier when the children in the team „compose" their commands,
e.g. if they say "I feel like I'm in a sauna" or "It's sooo cold, I need to warm up"....
8. Target practice
A target area is laid out using the pegs and target bands. One member of each team throws a cushion,
trying to get as close as possible to the target area. The child that gets closest is given one point.
Every member of the team should throw at least once.
9. Standing long jump
From a standing start, each player must try to jump as far as possible. In order to ensure a correct
jump, the legs of the jumper are tied together with a hook and loop band.
10. Lucky dip
Various objects are placed in a jumping sack. (Things which the children are aware of, but also things
which they don't realise have been added). Each member of each team has approx. 30 seconds
to touch these objects and try to guess what they are. The team gets one point for each correctly
guessed object and loses one point for every incorrectly guessed one. During the game, just write
down the tips from the players but don't let them know if they're right or wrong until everyone has
made their guesses - this keeps the tension going. If the children are already able to write, they can
also write down their guesses within their teams and then hand up their list.
11. Toilet roll throwing
Make a pyramid out of 10 toilet rolls. The children must try to use as few throws of the cushions as
possible to bring down the pyramid.
12. Egg dance
Music is played. Four players dance to this and balance a plastic egg on a spoon in a pre-defined
area. If somebody lets their egg fall, they are out. The child who is left standing is the winner. If there
are more than four players, simply set up some interim rounds, with the best players going through
to the final.
Another version: Combine the game with the three-legged race. Tie two players together with the
hook and loop bands. One of them balances the egg.
Another version: The music is stopped every now and then. When no music is playing, the players may
not move. They have to freeze in their positions.
Another version: The players may obstruct one another and try to unbalance the other players' eggs
- without letting their own egg fall, of course!
13. Pack mule
One member of the team stands with his arms out wide. All of the rest must distribute the party set
objects around his body such that they won't fall. An egg will naturally earn them more points than
a jumping sack. If there aren't enough objects, simply add household items: tennis balls, toilet rolls,
pens,... The group which puts the most objects on their pack mule within 1-5 minutes (depending
on their age) wins.
14. fire
The children stand in a circle and throw a bump bag to one another. If a child lets the bag fall, he is out.
Another version: Several bump bags can be thrown at the same time.
