1.5. Primer for plastic brackets
Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with the skin. If it occurs, wash skin thoroughly with soap
and water. Contact may cause skin irritation. Apply in a well-ventilated area.
Caution: Do not expose primer to sunlight. Do not store over 25 °C / 77 °F.
1.6. Ceramic brackets
When bonding ceramic brackets, it is essential to avoid contact with the antagonist due to the
risk of abrasion. If necessary, a palatal bite raise can be used.
2.
General instructions for adhesive technique –
please read carefully!
2.1. Checking the tooth surface
Check each tooth carefully for any existing enamel damage (cracks, lesions or similar). Such
predamages may lead to enamel fractures when debonding brackets. The patient must be
informed accordingly prior to the treatment.
2.2. Cleaning the teeth
The tooth surfaces to be bonded must first be thoroughly cleaned. Small brushes or rubber cups
with special prophylactic paste or a pumice and water mix can be used. It is essential that the
cleaning agent contains no fluoride, oil or grease since these would interfere with future etching
procedures. Slow handpiece speed should be used.
2.3. Dry field
Successful adhesive procedures require a dry, clean and visible working field. With most patients,
an acceptable dry field is achieved with cotton rolls. If extensive bonding procedures are to
be undertaken, the use of a rubber dam is advisable in order to achieve perfect dryness.
This is particularly true when a patient has a heavy saliva flow or other unfavorable working
conditions exist.
