2. General product description
Areas of application
Orthocryl / Orthocryl EQ are PMMA-based, cold-curing polymers
® ®
for the fabrication of fixed and removable orthodontic
appliances, bite-guards, anti-snoring devices etc.
All Orthocryl powders (polymers), liquids (monomers) and
®
colour concentrates are Class IIa medical devices and are
approved materials for use in fixed orthodontic techniques.
Accessories such as Orthocryl
are intended solely for use in removable appliances.
Orthocryl
achieves optimal stability with the spray-on
®
technique, but it is also suitable for the doughing technique.

3. Application
Firstly the models must be „de-aerated". Otherwise the air
bubbles emerging from dried plaster models could cause the
acrylic to lift from the model, or penetrate into the resin!
Therefore the models should be immersed in warm water –
depending on plaster quality – for approximately 10 - 25 min,
until no more air bubbles emerge from the plaster.
In order to avoid direct skin contact whilst processing Orthocryl
components, it is mandatory to wear facial masks, protective
goggles and special protective gloves such as Dermatril
disposable protective gloves made from special-nitrile
(REF 162-907-00,162-908-00 and 162-909-00). For further
information, please see the relevant safety data sheets.
In order to achieve smooth, silky-matt, polished basal appliance
surfaces, without discolouration or plaster inclusions, we
recommend coating the model after soaking with a special
Orthocryl separating medium (REF 162-800-00).

3.1. Applying the Orthocryl
(REF 162-800-00)
· Carefully blow the soaked model.
· Pour the separating medium directly from the bottle
(REF 162-100-00) onto the moist model and spread evenly
over the surface using a paintbrush.
· Stand the model onto its back so that any excess fluid may
drain away.
