Upgrading the 5550 IP Console software
To upgrade the 5550 IP Console software:
1. To preserve information on the console Scratch Pad, copy the
scratchpad.txt file in the \Mitel\5550ip\config folder to another
location. After the upgrade, return the file to the \config folder.
2. Log on to Mitel OnLine.
3. Move your cursor over Technical and then click Software
Downloads.
4. Click on Mitel Communications Director and click on 5550 IP
Console.
5. Locate the software you want to install by following one of the
steps below:
• Either click on 5550_XXXX_Full_CD.zip to download the full

• Or, if you know which console version is required, you can
scroll down to Console load per 3300 software releases and
select the appropriate software to download.
6. When you click on the software to download, a "Disclaimer" is
displayed that prompts "I agree..." or "I disagree". Click the
approriate response.
7. Select a location on your PC to store the downloaded software.
8. If you downloaded 5550_XXXX_Full_CD.zip, you can create a
CD.
9. Execute the software by following one of the steps below:
• Insert the 5550 IP Console software disk that you created in
step 8 in the CD-ROM.
• Unzip the software file you downloaded in Step 7 and execute
the install process.
10. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade.
11. After the installation is complete, verify console operation by
rebooting the computer and starting the console.
12. If necessary, reset the console keypad either by using the "Load
IP" Maintenance command from the MCD System Tool, or by
powering the keyboard off and on. The reset forces the keypad
to renew its IP address and firmware.
