c) Detecting "live" electrical wires
• To detect live AC wires, press the power on/off button (6) to turn on the metal detector, then
press the live wire detection button (7). The live wire detection mode icon (i) appears on the
LC display.
• Place the metal detector onto the surface that you want to scan for objects with an alternating
(AC) current. The metal detector can detect alternating current wires of 40 to 60 Hz.
• The signal strength indicator increases when the sensor area moves closer to a detected
object and decreases when it moves away from a detected object. The measured signal
strength ranges from 0 to 100 and reaches the maximum of 100 when the sensor is placed
directly above the detected object.
• The signal strength indicator lights up red, and the metal detector generates a rapid series
of rapid beeps, when an object is detected directly underneath the sensor area. The signal
strength indicator lights up yellow when the signal is weaker indicating an object is nearby.
The signal strength indicator lights up green when no object is detected.
Objects carrying an AC are detected both in metal and wood modes of the metal
detector. Move the metal detector back and forth to determine the exact position of
the object.
For best results, there should be live AC flowing through the wires. To improve the
detection accuracy, turn on a nearby appliance.
In cases such as when an electrical cable is buried below the surface with high water
content, the metal detector will not detect the AC. When looking for a live cable, the
detection signal is affected by the position of the wire. Therefore, it is necessary to
repeatedly detect or use other sources to determine whether there is a live cable in
the vicinity of the detection location.
Electrostatic buildup may lead to inaccurate detection results, such as a cable
covering a long distance. In order to improve the detection results, a bare hand
should be placed on the wall next to the metal detector so that static electricity can
be discharged.
d) Limitations of operation
• Detection results are influenced by environmental factors and may not be able to detect all
hidden objects. These include when the metal detector is near a strong electromagnetic field,
moisture, metal building materials, aluminium cladding of insulating materials, conductivity of
wallpaper, conduction ability of carpet, tile, or wallboard. To eliminate hazards, it is important
to refer to engineering drawings, building plans, photos and other sources of information
before drilling, sawing or milling into walls, ceilings or floors.
The presence of magnets, moisture, metallic construction materials, metal foils on
insulating materials or conductive wallpaper with metallic pigments may lead to
inaccurate measurements.
Electromagnetic signals (such as Wi-Fi, UMTS, aviation radar, radio transmitters
and microwave ovens) may affect the accuracy of the measurements. If possible,
turn off all sources of interference before using the metal detector.
e) Digital "bull's eye level"
Press the power on/off button (6) to turn on the metal detector, then press the digital "bull's
eye level" detection button (5) to automatically determine the angle in the X/Y direction. The
LC display changes to the digital "bull's eye level" detection interface and shows the results.
To go back, press one of the following buttons: wood, metal, or live AC wire detection button.
f) Turn on/off the sound
Press and hold the digital "bull's eye level" button (5) for five seconds to turn on or off the sound.
Care and cleaning
• Disconnect the product from the power supply before cleaning.
• Clean the product with a dry, fiber-free cloth.
• Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents, rubbing alcohol or other chemical solutions as
they can cause damage to the housing and malfunctioning.
• Avoid adhering any labels or metallic objects in front of or on either side of the sensor area (8).
• Store the product in the supplied pouch after use.
Disposal
a) Product
Electronic devices are recyclable waste and must not be disposed of in the
household waste. At the end of its service life, dispose of the product according to
the relevant statutory regulations.
Remove any inserted batteries and dispose of them separately from the product.
b) Batteries
As the end user, you are required by law (Battery Ordinance) to return all used
batteries; disposal of them in the household waste is prohibited!
Contaminated batteries are labelled with this symbol to indicate that disposal in
the domestic waste is forbidden. The designations for the heavy metals involved
are: Cd = Cadmium, Hg = Mercury, Pb = Lead (name on batteries, e.g. below the
trash icon on the left).
Used batteries can be returned to collection points in your municipality, our stores or wherever
batteries are sold.
You thus fulfil your statutory obligations and contribute to the protection of the environment.
