1.1 Use
The KESSEL backwater valves are intended for
installation in gravity fed wastewater pipes.
The KESSEL backwater valves must be kept in
good working order at all times and be easily
accessible. The flaps are normally closed and
open automatically to allow outflowing water to
pass.
The double and single flap lockable backwater
valves have a manually lockable flap as an emer-
gency stop. This enables the valve to be opened
and closed manually. If out of operation for a pro-
longed period, the emergency flap should be kept
closed.
The single flap backwater valve does not have
the manual locking capability.
Each device is supplied ready for operation and
need only be installed in a gravity fed wastewa-
ter pipe.

Only the double flap lockable backwater valve
meets EN 13564 type 2 and offers additional
security due to the double flaps.
