8.2.2 Determination of the aerosol output and aerosol output rate
Aerosol output (aerosol quantity output by the nebuliser system for a
specified fill volume)
Fill the nebuliser with 2ml of a 1% sodium fluoride solution. Attach the neb-
uliser to the PARI Compass Breath Simulator until the aerosol becomes irreg-
ular, then one more minute.
Aerosol output in [ml] for minimum flow (3.5l/min) and maximum flow (6.0l/
min):
Min. flow (3.5l/min)
Max. flow (6.0l/min)
(Averages from each of 2 separate measurement series with 3 nebuliser/
compressed air combinations)
Aerosol output rate (volume of aerosol that is output by the nebuliser
system per unit of time)
