Hygienic re-use
6.1 General
In order to prevent a health risk, e.g., infection caused by a contam-
inated nebuliser, it is imperative that the following hygiene regula-
tions are followed.
The PARI LL nebuliser is designed for multiple uses. Please be aware that
different requirements regarding hygienic re-use are in effect for different
fields of application:
- At home (single patient use):
The nebuliser must be cleaned and disinfected after each use.
- Hospital / medical practice (possible change in patient):
The nebuliser must be cleaned, disinfected and sterilised after each use.
- Additional requirements concerning the necessary hygienic preparations
(hand care, handling of medications or inhalation solutions) in high-risk
groups (e.g., patients with cystic fibrosis) can be obtained from the respec-
tive self-help groups.
- Proof of suitability of the nebulisers for effective cleaning, disinfection and
sterilisation has been obtained through an independent testing laboratory
using the recommended procedures stated in Chapter 6.4.1 "Cleaning/dis-
infection" (test documentation available for inspection on request). Using
the named alternatives remains the responsibility of the user.
- Please ensure adequate drying after each cleaning, disinfection and/or
sterilisation. Condensation or residual wetness can present an increased
risk through the growth of bacteria.
- Please check the parts of your nebuliser regularly and replace any defec-
tive (broken, misshapen, discoloured) parts.
The PARI Child and Adult soft masks cannot be sterilised.
Replace the nebuliser at least every two years. PARI GmbH recommends
that certain components of the nebuliser (nozzle, connection tubing etc.) be
replaced every year. For this purpose, PARI GmbH can offer you the useful
PARI Year Pack (see Chapter 9 "Replacement sets, replacement parts and
accessories"). Please read and follow the hygiene instructions in the
instructions for use of the PARI compressor.
