3. Description
Up to two heat pumps are connected to a WPM heat pump
manager in a heat pump cascade. Up to six heat pumps can
be connected in conjunction with heat pump extension WPE.
The connection between heat pump manager and heat pump
is carried out via CAN bus. The connection can have a line or
star topology.
3.1
Conditions
- Heat pump must be cascade compatible
- Heat pumps of the same type without an integral WPM
(outputs may be different)
- No hydraulic module in the heating system
- WPMsystem
3.2 Function
- In heating mode, the heat pumps are controlled so that
the compressors have approximately the same number of
hours run.
- The heat pump responsible for DHW heating is the first
heat pump in the cascade. DHW heating is always started
and ended by the first heat pump in the cascade. Addi-
tional heat pumps may provide DHW heating back-up.
- An integral electric emergency/auxiliary heater (NHZ/
DHC) in the heat pump does not have any function in a
cascade.
- If priority operation is activated and the first heat pump
fails, the heat pump cascade is disabled.

4. Electrical connection
f Use a screened cable (e.g. J-Y 2x2x0.8 mm²) for the bus
connection.
f Connect the screen at one end.
