Important fitting information
Please note: In vehicles equipped with an SCR system, the urea tank
must be removed in accordance with the ŠKODA Repair Manual before
the tow bar can be fitted.

Fitting procedure

The vehicle battery should be disconnected during fitting (on vehicles with a coded radio,
first request the code).
The individual components must be removed and refitted in accordance with the instructions
in the ŠKODA Repair Manual.
Remove the following components:
› Rear bumper (and mud flaps, if fitted),
› Bumper reinforcement bar.
Caution: After removing the bumper reinforcement bar, apply a
corrosion protection agent to the area where the bumper reinforce-
ment bar and body panels touch. The areas with galvanised sheet
metal where a corrosion protection agent has not been applied must
be treated with two coats (at least 25 microns) of corrosion protection
filler spray (SprayMax 1K Acrylic Filler). Once the filler has been left to
dry at a temperature of approximately 20 °C for 20 minutes, apply the
Multi-Wax wax preservative spray (Henkel). After the bodywork has
been treated with the corrosion protection agent, reinsert the bolts
that you removed from the bumper reinforcement bar (fig. 6).
- 3, 4, 5 -
› Place the rear bumper that you have removed on a piece of soft felt.
› Use a suitable pencil to mark a line on the rear bumper spoiler lip where the opening for the
ball hitch is to be cut (use the dimensions provided in the detail in fig. 3).
› Cut out the opening along the lines you have marked, and use a suitable tool to neaten the
edges of the opening.
Please note: When cutting out the opening, pay particular attention to
where the existing electrical wiring is in order to avoid damaging it.
- 7 -
› Remove the seal caps from the openings provided for attaching the tow bar support frame
by the rear side members (on both sides of the vehicle). Then treat the surface around the
openings with a corrosion protection agent in the same way as the areas on the bodywork
after the bumper reinforcement bar was removed.
› If necessary, remove any plastisol parts from the inside of the side members.
