Thermostat control

• The thermostat registers the temperature while
the oven is being used and, if necessary, switches
heating elements on or off, for instance when
the oven door is opened. The heating elements
are switched on once the oven door is closed.

Handy baking tips

• Always preheat the oven. Remember to place
your oven trays at the right height before turning
on the oven.
• Keep the oven door closed as much as possible
during cooking. If it is necessary to open the
door, do so when the food is almost done.
• Follow the cooking time instructions and check
if the food is cooked properly before serving.
Make sure your pans and baking trays are of
good quality and the right size. Do not use pans
that have been damaged, dented or burned.
• Shiny, metal pans and baking trays produce the
best results because the heat is refl ected, giving
cakes, cookies and muffi ns a beautiful golden
crust.
• Pyrex dishes can also be used for baking cakes.
Reduce the oven temperature by 15°C when
using a glass dish.
• Pyrex dishes or enamel pots and pans, matt
metals and porcelain retain heat and give cakes
a rich, golden colour.
IMPORTANT: The temperature and time settings
of this oven may differ from other ovens you
have used. If necessary, adapt your recipes
accordingly.

Handy grilling tips

• Use a grill pan to collect oil and cooking juices.
This will also reduce fi re hazard, smoke accu-
mulation and spattering.
• Place the grill pan with the food at the recom-
mended oven level.
• Remove fat from pork chops to prevent curling
as they cook.
• Grease the grill pan slightly to prevent sticking.
Grease fi sh and chicken with butter so that it
does not dry out.
• Grill one side a bit longer than the recommended
grilling time, then season and fl ip. Season the
other side before taking it out of the oven.
• Protect your hands with oven gloves to remove
the baking tray from the oven with tongs or a
spatula.
• Do not poke the meat with a fork. This merely
allows juices to escape.
• Do not leave the grill pan in the oven after the
food has been removed. Otherwise the fat and
juices become hard and diffi cult to clean off.
Note: Lining the bottom of the grill pan with tin foil
makes it a lot easier to clean.
