for information about UAS and Child Restraint installation positions.
UAS
= Universal Anchorage System
Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Standards have defined a system for installing Child
Restraints in vehicles called lower Universal Anchorage System (UAS). UAS may
ONLY be used IN PLACE OF vehicle belt if the vehicle is equipped with UAS
anchor points. DO NOT use both the seat belt and UAS at the same time.
Please refer to the vehicle owner's manual for designated UAS locations in
vehicles.
UAS in the vehicle consists of two lower anchor points. Some vehicles owner's manual
use the term "ISOFIX". UAS can also be used in vehicle seating positions equipped
with ISOFIX.
If the vehicle is equipped with UAS, the vehicle lower anchor points may be visible at the seat
crease. If not visible, the seating position may be marked with a symbol (fig. a) or a colored dot.
