Extinction in reflected light
1. Move the selector ①
illuminator in the
corresponding to letter "R". (Fig. 46)
2. Insert the reflected light polarizer ②. (Fig. 47)
3. Place on the stage a flat mirror and insert 10x
objective.
4. Insert rotatable analyser in the light path, loosen
the locking screw ③and turn the vibration
direction scale ④ until the eyepieces are
completely dark, then lock the locking screw ③.

• It may happen that the scale of the polarizer
is not perfectly aligned on the reference mark
but is shifted by one or two notches. This is
not a defect but it is due to the mechanical
alignment of the polarizers during assembly.
