Chapter 4,

Using the Galaxy System

User Steps

Testing an instrument on the Galaxy System can be done with the push
of a single button. The user must take the following steps to perform a
test once the System is set up.

Turning on the System

1. Turn ON the Test System by plugging the AC power module into
the AC mains power.
The Test System displays <INSERT INST>.
2. Check that gas cylinders/demand regulators are attached and
contain gas.
3. Verify the proper test to be performed (bump/calibration).
4. Insert instrument.

Running a Test

1. Turn ON the instrument and allow it to fully warm up.
Instrument must fully warm up; failing to allow unit to warm
up can cause erroneous test results, which can cause inac-
curate calibrations.
2. Insert the instrument into the Test System.
For the Sirius instrument only:
If the Test System is equipped with optional charging:
Before inserting the instrument, the protective
rubber plug on the back of the Sirius MultiGas
Detector must be folded out of the way to allow the
charging pins to engage the battery contacts.
The rubber plug can be folded to one side by
gently twisting it counter-clockwise one full turn
and placing the outer surface of the plug against the
instrument case.
For the Altair and Altair Pro Instruments:
Before inserting the instrument into the Test Station, press
and hold the instrument "TEST" button for one second to
start the test.
