7. Starting up the product
After having carried out the mechanical and
electrical installation described in previous
sections, proceed to the following steps.
7.1 Flushing the system
DANGER
Contaminated drinking water
Death or serious personal injury
‐
Flush the system before starting it
or after a standstill period.
Drinking water systems
Hygiene
Grundfos pressure booster systems are
functionally tested by running water through the
system. During the test, Grundfos continuously
surveys the quality of the test water. Since it is not
possible to completely drain and dry the system
after the test, the system must be rinsed or
flushed thoroughly before being taken into use in
a drinking water sector due to risk of bacteria
growth. This also applies if the system has been
shut down for a long period of time. Rinsing and
flushing must always be done in accordance with
local regulations.
Contaminated drinking water endangers health.
7.2 Positive inlet pressure startup
procedure
1. Check that the precharge pressure in the
diaphragm tank is 0.7 times the required outlet
pressure (setpoint).
2. Make sure that all valves on the pump outlet
and inlet side are open.
3. Turn on the tap on the pump outlet side to
allow water to pass through the pump.
4. Turn the power on the pump by pressing the
Start/Stop button
5. Adjust the required setpoint pressure by using
the up or down arrows on the motor.

7.3 Flooded suction and suction lift
startup procedures
1. Check that the precharge pressure in the
diaphragm tank is 0.7 times the required outlet
pressure (setpoint).
2. Use a 10-mm Allen wrench to remove the vent
plug on the front of the pump just above the
inlet port.
3. Use a funnel and fill water into the pump
through the vent port. When water is no longer
able to fill into the pump, the pump is primed.
4. Reinstall vent plug. Be careful not to cross-
thread the vent plug while reinstalling.
5. Ensure all valves on the outlet side and inlet
side of the pump are in an open position.
6. Turn the power on by pressing the Start/Stop
button on the pump.
7. Adjust the required setpoint pressure by using
the up or down arrows on the motor.
