8.5.- Assembly.
After what has been said, the material is to be situated next to the well, with all the due precautions to avoid
deterioration through knocks and dirt, and once the tools are ready and the lifting mechanism is in place,
the assembly will take place.
ANY DAMAGED PIECE SHOULD BE REPLACED AND NOT USED FOR ASSEMBLY
It has to be taken into account that ALL OUR VERTICAL PUMPS TURN TOWARDS THE LEFT looking
from the top , that is, counter clockwise direction, as is displayed by the ARROW SEEN IN THE
DISCHARGE HEAD .
The assembling starts on placing in the upper side bowl assembly (379) a set of wooden braces (8) and on
fixing in the upper flange a set of special iron clamps (5) which hangs from the hoisting blocks. Then lift and
introduce the pump into the well or drilling, till the aforesaid wooden braces (8) lie between both joists.
Loosen the clamps and attach them to the flange of an exterior pipe (507) column.
Screw the shaft coupling (612) in to the pump shaft of the pump body (450) and following this, the first
columne shaft (446), applying the thread with graphite grease.
The surfaces of union between the flanges are not placed together by any gaskets but will be covered by
special sealing paint .
The first pipe (507) is then assembled by screwing its flange to the pump (379).
Once this is done, the unit will be lifted slightly in order to remove the braces from the pump body and to
attach them again, lowering it as much as is necessary, into the pipe under the ribs of the upper flange,
and further down until it rests on the small beams . This will allow the loosening of the clamps to be used
on the following pipes, and to place the first guide (014) equipped with the rubber bearing after which the
assembler should turn the shaft by hand and check the correct centering of the unit.
According to the above named procedure, couplings, shafts and bearing retainers (guides), shall be
successively assembled in order to engage both clamps and braces till the end of the column is reached.
Then, the head shaft (441) shall be added to the last line shaft (446), by the pertaining coupling provided
(612).
The top column adaptor (907) shall be fastened to the pipe (507), by its pertaining guide (014) on one of its
ends and on the other, the head (003) voided of its complements, packing gland/box (002), bearing box
(001) and pulley (15) or couplings (460) and motor stand (785) in any of its versions of manufacture which
will come down till resting on the supporting joists , where it will become strongly secured to by anchoring
bolts.
The packing gland box (002) in its pertaining version, shall be introduced through the head shaft (441) and
screwed accordingly.
0
The packing gland rings, previously cutted with 45
angle, shall be put into the box (002) in such a way that
0
cuttings will be 90
apart from one another. They will be then tightened with the packing gland so that they
may be adjusted to the shaft (441). They will be then loosened to obviate braking and lead to a regular
dripping which will in turn cool both the packing gland and the shaft.
Introduce the deflecting ring (423) into the head shaft (441) by placing it as near the bearing box (004) as
possible. It shall be then screwed to the top of the head (003), with the motor stand (785) and the coupling
sleeve (460) where a direct driving is the case. If this is not so, fasten the pulley (15) making sure the
headshaft key holds the correct position on the shaft (441).
Then the pump axial engagement adjusting nut shall be screwed (827). The shafts line shall be lifted in
order to keep the rotating pack (the impellers) from rubbing the pump body on account of the elongation
resulting from both its own weight and the axial load it is subject to.
VERIFY THE PUMP TURNING CAPACITY BY HAND and this position, tighten the screw on the adjusting
nut (20) in order to ensure immobility.
