8.3.- Hydraulic system.
Make sure that the delivery pipe is equipped:
q
a quick closing check valve to protect the machine from water hammers;
q
an on-off sluice valve to regulate the flow rate;
q
a pressure gauge.
Also make sure that :
q
The pump has a foot valve or the line shaft is equipped with the pre-lubricating system when the
products is installed at a depth of more than 10 m or when it will be subjected to lengthy periods of
inactivity.
q
The suction pressure of the pump port is able to satisfy the required NPSH conditions.
q
The drive unit is installed so that in can be easily inspected.
q
The water recovered from the packing gland is channelled.
q
If the products installed in a close place, that there is insufficient ventilation to prevent the air from
increasing in temperature since this would be harmful for the motor or engine.
q
The drive unit and pipes are protected against frost when freezing temperatures may occur, Failing
this, completely drain the water from the pipes and cooling system during periods of inactivity.
q
The minimum dynamic level of the water is sufficient to prevent a vortex from forming when
pumping from accumulation tanks.
q
When strainer is assembled on pump suction, proper maintenace is required, checking that
it always remains clean. Any obstruction on the strainer may lead to cavitation on the pump.
8.4.- Electrical connections.
Qualified staff should make electrical connections.
Before making the motor connections, check that the electrical parts on which you are
going to work are not connected to the power supply.
The ground cables (yellow/green) should be connected to the ground circuit of the
system before connecting up the other conductors.
The figures show the proper connection for the case of direct starting and three-phase line with 230 volts
and 400 volts mains voltage.
Y/? STARTING. Remove the bridge plates from the terminal box and connect the motor terminals to the
corresponding ones on the starter.

TAKE CARE
Check that the values for the voltage and frequency of the supply mains coincide with the
ones indicated on the motor characteristics plate, depending on whether this is star or
delta connection.
