Quick Pressure Monitor Set
WARNINGS:
▪
ALWAYS follow sterile procedures.
▪
Before use of sterile accessories, inspect the package for
damage and confirm the integrity of the sterile barrier. DO NOT
use any accessory if damage is apparent or the sterile barrier
has been compromised. The syringe solution and fluid path is
sterile if the protective caps are in place and the package is
intact.
▪
Do not use the pre-filled syringe if the solution is discolored or
contains a precipitate.
▪
Keep the syringe at controlled room temperature. Keep from
freezing.
▪
The disposable syringe is for single use only. Discard any unused
portion.
▪
DO NOT resterilize or reuse the needles, syringe, or catheter.
Discard these components after one use.
1. Turn the unit on. "_ _" is displayed for 5 seconds and then
disappears. The device is now ready for use. If "_ _" is displayed
continuously, see the Troubleshooting section.
2. Remove the contents of the disposable pouch.
3. Place the needle firmly on the tapered chamber stem.
4. Remove the cap on the pre-filled syringe, and screw the syringe
onto the remaining chamber stem. Be careful not to contaminate
the fluid pathway. See Figure 1.
5. Open the monitor cover and inspect the transducer port for
damage or contamination.
-
If the port is damaged, do not use the monitor. Return the
device to C2Dx.
-
Remove any contamination. See the Cleaning section.
6. Place the chamber into the transducer well with the black surface
facing down. Gently push until the disposable seats. See Figure 2.

7. Snap the cover closed — DO NOT FORCE. Make sure the latch
has snapped.
WARNING: DO NOT use the monitor if the monitor cover is
physically damaged or unable to snap closed.
NOTE: If the cover will not close, rotate the syringe so that a straight
side of the flange rests against the base of the monitor. This will
reduce the height of the flange to allow the cover to close.
8. Hold the needle approximately 45 degrees up from horizontal.
Slowly force fluid through the disposable to purge it of air.
CAUTION: DO NOT allow saline to roll down the needle into the
transducer well.
WARNING: To ensure accuracy, the device must be at the
correct angle of insertion before the ZERO button is pressed.
9. Approximate the intended angle of insertion of the needle into the
skin. To ensure accuracy, the display must read -8 to +9 mmHg.
Press the ZERO button. The display will read "00" after
approximately 2 seconds. See Figure 3.
NOTE: The display must read "00" before continuing. If the display
does not read "00," see the Troubleshooting section.
WARNING: DO NOT use the pressure readings when the
display indicates low battery. Replace the battery (see the
Battery Replacement section) and repeat the steps to obtain
the pressure reading.
10. Insert the needle and slowly inject less than 3/10 mL of saline
into the compartment to equilibrate with interstitial fluids.
11. Wait for the display to reach equilibrium.
12. Read the pressure.
13. For additional measurements, repeat steps 9 through 12. Make
sure the unit is reset to zero.
