– Insert the power plug of the transformer of the fresh
water cascade into the mains socket.
– Each time the power supply has been interrupted, the
fresh water cascade carries out an automatic
initialisation run for functional control. This takes about
5 minutes.
– Observe and compare the initialisation of the actuators
for functional control:
Step 1: All actuators close
Step 2: All actuators open successively
Step 3: All actuators close
Step 4: The master actuator opens
Duration of the initialisation run: about 5 min.
During the 23 hours after the initialisation run, the
master actuator is the primary actuator (i.e. it is in the
open position even if no water is drawn off).
Once the initialisation run has been completed, keep
"Adaptation" key of each actuator successively pressed
for 5 seconds. A reference run is now triggered by
each actuator.
8.5 Checking the correct installation of the
actuators on the ball valves
– Open one draw off point, so that hot water flows.
– Press and engage the acknowledgement button
at all actuators, close the ball valve.
(see paragraph 6.3)
– Does the hot water stop flowing at the draw off
point?
Ok, all ball valves are aligned correctly. Close
draw off point and press all acknowledgement
buttons once, check is complete.
– Does the hot water not stop flowing at the draw
off point?
At least one ball valve has not been aligned
correctly. This ball valve can be localised by
reading the volume flow display at the
individual controllers.
Close draw off point, remove actuators
individually and fit them according to point 6.3,
repeat check.

9 Operation

– The fresh water cascade does not have to be
operated during normal operation. Once connected
to the power supply, operation will start
automatically.
– Should a malfunction occur, each actuator can be
opened and closed manually.
– For the temporary suspension of a fresh water
station (maintenance, malfunction at a station) within
the cascade assembly, press and engage the
acknowledgement button at the corresponding
actuator and close the ball valve by turning it
clockwise (see also "Emergency operation" under
paragraph 5.3).
– All designed functions of the cascade control set
are now carried out by the remaining participants.
When changing the primary station, the suspended
participant is skipped, so that the hot water supply
is always guaranteed.
– If a fresh water station is not in operation for a longer
time, there is a risk of germination

Danger to life and limb
The function of the cascade control has to be
checked at regular intervals to avoid inadvertent
stagnation of the water in the fresh water stations.
Stagnant water is prone to the formation of germs.
The daily change of the primary actuator has to
be checked above all (see paragraph 5.2).
Systems that are not used for a longer time or are
used rarely have to be flushed at regular intervals.
It must be ensured that each ball valve is in the
open position during flushing. If necessary open
the ball valves temporarily by manually operating
the actuators (see paragraph 6.3).

10 Maintenance

To guarantee a perfect operation of the fresh water
cascade, it is recommended to have the stations and
the complete system maintained by a specialist
heating company once a year.
The following work should be done:
– Check all components and connections of the fresh
water stations for leaks.
– Check the cascade ball valves for leaks.
– Check whether the set nominal temperature at all
fresh water stations is kept.
– Check whether the flow and circulation return
temperatures are plausible and correct.
– Cascade control check:
When drawing off water with increasing quantity, all
ball valves of the cascade must open one after the
other.
If the power supply has been interrupted, all
actuators have to carry out an initialisation run.

11 Warranty

Oventrops warranty conditions valid at the time of
supply are applicable.
