Cleaning
NOTE: When cleaning the 3M™ Speedglas™ Welding Helmets 9100 MP, it is highly recommended that
the 3M™ Speedglas™ ADF 9100 be removed to avoid the possibility of water entering the electronics and
causing damage.
The 3M™ Speedglas™ Welding Helmet 9100 MP should be regularly cleaned. Follow the hygiene practices
established by your employer for the specific contaminants to which the respirator assembly has been exposed.
Contact 3M technical service for additional information on cleaning the 3M™ Speedglas™ Welding Helmet 9100 MP.
Headgear Shell, Clear Grinding Visor, Visor Frame, and other plastic parts: A clean cloth, sponge or
soft brush dampened with a mild solution of soapy water may be used to wipe down the 9100 MP visor,
headgear shells, head suspensions (including the webbing), and all other plastic parts. Rinse with clean
water. Washing temperature should not exceed 120ºF (49ºC). Rinse with clean water. Air dry all parts inside
and out thoroughly before storage or reuse. If liquid enters the air channels ensure it is thoroughly dry before
storage and reuse.
Do not use strong solvents for cleaning plastic parts including headgear shells, suspensions, and visors.
Comfort Pad: The forehead comfort pad/sweat pad (M-957) may be hand washed or laundered with a
solution of soapy water.
Faceseals: The fabric faceseals are made of a flame resistant material. A mild soapy solution with warm
water and air dry is recommended when laundering. There is a 5 wash maximum on the flame resistant
material, exceeding this wash limit may result in a loss of flame resistant properties.
Radiant Heat Hard Hat Headcover: This is meant to be a disposable item, no cleaning is recommended.
Breathing Tubes: The SG-30W and SG-40W breathing tubes may be wiped down with warm soapy water.
If liquid enters the breathing tube, thoroughly dry the tube before storage or reuse by forcing air through the
tube (approximate flow rate of 6 to 15 cfm) for several minutes with the tube hanging vertically.
NOTE: The SG-50W breathing tube contains a foam muffler material inside. It is recommended to not
allow water to enter the inside of the breathing tube during the cleaning process.
