8. Make sure the blades are not touching any-
thing before starting the telescoping hedge
trimmer.

Before commissioning

Unpacking
1. Remove the telescoping hedge trimmer and
everything else from the packaging.
2. If any parts are damaged or missing, do not operate
this product until the parts are replaced. Failure to
heed this warning could result in serious personal
injury.

Assembly
Assembling the front handle (Fig. 2)
1. Unscrew the front handle screw (A) from the front
handle (5) and open the mounting clamp (B).
2. Attach the front handle to the main rod (5) just behind
the cushioned grip by securing the mounting clamp
around the main rod (B) and then tightening the front
handle screw (A).
Attaching the trimmer rod
1. Loosen the T-screw (4) by turning it counterclockwise.
2. Pull out the safety knob (14) and turn it clockwise in
order to lock it open.
3. Insert the trimmer rod (19) into the main rod (18).
4. Turn the safety knob (14) counterclockwise, locking it
back into place. Make sure it goes into the hole of the
trimmer rod.
5. Tighten the T-screw (4) by turning it clockwise.
If the main rod and trimmer rod are not fastened
tightly together, rotate them back and forth a little.
This will bring the drive shaft into the correct positi-
on so the trimmer or extension rod will correctly fit
inside the coupling.
Removing the trimmer rod (Fig. 4)
1. Loosen the T-screw (4) by turning it counterclockwise.
2. Pull out the safety knob (14) and turn it clockwise in
order to lock it open.
3. Pull the trimmer rod (19) straight out of the main rod
(18).
Attaching the extension rod (Fig. 3)
To attach the extension rod (15) in between the main rod
(18) and trimmer rod (19), follow the instructions as writ-
ten in the section "Attaching the trimmer rod."

Operation pole hedge trimmer

WARNING: Read and understand this owner's
manual before operating Pole Trimmer. Make cer-
tain you read and understand all Safety Warnings
of this manual. Improper use of this Pole Trimmer
can result in severe injury or death from fire, electric
shock, or body contact with moving parts.

Power connection

The machine can only be connected to a singlephase a.c.
current connection.The machine is protectively insulated
in accordance with classification II of VDE 0740. Before
using the machine ensure that the mains current agrees
with the operating voltage data on the machine's identi-
fication plate.

Power circuit breaker

We recommend to operate the pole trimmer in connec-
tion with a residual current operated device with a maxi-
mum breaking current of 30mA.
Connecting Extension Cord (Fig. 6)
The Pole Trimmer has a built-in extension cord retainer
to prevent the accidental disconnection of the unit from
the extension cord during use. It is molded into the lower
hand guard area of the trigger housing.
1. Make sure the trigger lever is in the OFF position
2. Plug the power cord into the extension cord.
3. Create a loop in the extension cord and insert the
loop through the bottom of the handle. Pull the loop
tight around the molded cord hook (11).
Switching on/out
Before turning on the hedge trimmer, make sure you are
standing upright and with your feet firmly planted on the
ground. Hold the hedge trimmer with both hands and in
a relaxed manner.
1. Push and hold the trigger safety (7) forward.
2. Pull the on/off trigger (8), and release the trigger safe-
ty. The trigger safety only needs to be pressed to allow
the trigger to be pulled.
3. To turn the hedge trimmer off, release the on/off
trigger.
The breaking mechanism causes the blade to stop within
2 sec. The sparks (flashes) developing from this in the
area of the upper ventilation slots are normal and harm-
less for the device.

Attachment of the shoulder belt

Risk of injury!
In emergency situations, failure to release the
shoulder harness may result in severe injury.
- In emergency situations, release the shoulder harness
from the hedge trimmer.
- Know and understand the correct function of the quick-
release buckle before using the hedge trimmer.
Always use the carrying strap (13) when working, and always
hold the appliance with both hands. Close your fingers and
thumbs around the handles and the bar.
