Electric safety:
The electric equipment of the system corre-
sponds to the European standard EN 610291
and is interference-proof against electromag-
netic fields. The built-in universal motor is radio
and TV interference suppressed.
All moveable lines from control panel to saw
assembly are laid securely in an energy chain
and thus protected against mechanical damage,
e.g. getting stuck.
Transport and storage:
For safe transport the guide track can be
divided. The multi-purpose bow-shaped handle
is easily adaptable to the different positions of
the balance point of the system which in turn
depend on the length of the guide track.
The front transversal edge of the system is
equipped with a protective strip of rubber profile.
Thus the system, which is vertically placed
against the wall, is fully secured and balanced.
The safety devices described in this
manual are essential prerequisites
of safe system operation. They
must not be removed or put out of
action.

Use according to intended purpose

The MAFELL panel saw system PSS 3000 is
designed exclusively for the cutting of the following
materials:
solid timber
uncoated and coated particle panels, solid tim-
ber panels and multiplex panels
MDF-, HDF- and OSB-panels
HDL-laminate
plaster-fiber panels
cement-bound panels
The maximum thickness of the workpiece must not
exceed 45 mm (1 3/4 in.).
The diameter of the saw blades used must lie within
the following range:
minimum Ø 149 mm (5 3/4 in.),
maximum Ø 160 mm (6 1/4 in.).
The maximum basic thickness of the saw blade
body must not exceed 1.2 mm (3/64 in.).
Any use beyond this scope is considered as failing
to comply with the intended purpose. The manufac-
turer is not liable for any damage caused as a result
of this; the risk is borne solely by the user.
The use of saw blades made of high-speed steel
(HSS) and of abrasive disks is not permitted.
This system is not suitable for operation in the rain
outdoors or in areas subject to explosion hazards.
Use according to intended purpose also includes
adherence to the safety instructions contained in the
operating manual and compliance with the operat-
ing, maintenance and repair conditions specified by
MAFELL.
The panel saw system PSS 3000 may only be used,
set up and serviced by persons over 18 years of age
who are familiar with the system and have been
instructed as to the dangers involved. Repair work
must be carried out by authorized MAFELL dealers
or a MAFELL customer service station.
The safety regulations applicable in the country of
use, as well as all other generally accepted rules on
safety and occupational medicine, must be
observed.
Unauthorized modifications to the system preclude
the liability of the manufacturer for any resultant
damage.
1.8

Residual risks

Residual risks may also arise owing
to the design of the system relating
to its intended purpose even if the
machine is used properly and in
compliance with all relevant safety
regulations; e.g.:
Touching the saw blade protruding in starting
position below the guide track when beginning
the cut.
Touching the part of the saw blade that pro-
trudes underneath the workpiece when cutting
or after the cutting if the sliding bar for automatic
upward movement into a resting position has
not been adjusted correctly.
Touching the following rotating parts from the
side: body of saw blade, clamping flange and
flange screw.
Breakage of the saw blade and risk of the blade
or pieces of the blade being hurled away.
Touching live parts with the housing open and
the mains plug not removed.
