Operation

4.1

Initial operation

Before using the system for the first time, it is imper-
ative to study the following notes:
Personnel entrusted to work with the system
must have read the operating instructions. Par-
ticular importance has to be attached to the
chapter "safety instructions".
Make sure that the safety equipment is attached
and functions. This applies in particular to the
riving knife and the lock of the guards.
Make sure that the saw blade is fixed correctly.
Pre-marking lever 25 (Fig. 7) must be in home
position, contrary to the direction of the arrow.
Make sure that the machine is safely positioned
during setting and resetting works (balancing
point at assembly and control panel).
4.2

Adjusting cutting depth

The cutting depth may be adjusted con-
tinuously from 0 to 45 mm (0 to 1 3/4 in.).
For this purpose proceed as follows:
• Undo wing nut 12 (Fig. 2).
• The cutting depth is set with the depth stop 13
according to the scale. The bevelled edge 14 on
the gearbox housing serves as an indicator.
• Retighten wing nut.
The cutting depth should always be approx. 2 to
5 mm (1/16 to 3/16 in.) more than the workpiece
thickness.
4.3

Adjusting cutting length

With the normal guide track the cutting
length can be continuously adjusted to
1300 mm (51 in.). After mounting of the
guide track extension it can be continu-
ously adjusted to 2800 mm (110 in.).
To adjust the cutting length proceed as follows:
• Undo knurled screw 15 (Fig. 6) at stop slide
bar 16.
• Adjust stop slide bar 16 in the cutting groove of
the guide track so that its position amounts to
approximately 120 mm (4 3/4 in.) more than the
desired cutting length. Then retighten knurled
screw 15.
Fig. 6
Always use and correctly adjust stop
slide bar as otherwise the saw blade
will not return automatically into the
resting position after the completion
of the cut and in this case it is not
covered totally!
4.4

Adjusting forward momentum

The forward momentum is continuously
adjustable between 4 and 20 m/min
(13.1 and 65.6 ft/min).
To obtain a faultless cutting edge it is necessary to
select the suitable saw blade and to adapt the for-
ward momentum to the workpiece. Diagram 2
(Fig. 1) explains the suitable combinations of "mate-
rial – saw blade – forward momentum".
Rotary switch 17 on the control panel is used to
adjust the desired forward momentum. If the rotary
switch is turned towards left to the limit the forward
momentum is shut down.
4.5

Switching on and off

Before switching on, make sure that
the saw blade is freely movable.
Lead the mains cable away from the
machine to the rear.
Do not switch on the system if the
saw blade is touching the workpiece.
