1.10 Residual risks
Residual risks may also arise owing
to the design of the machine relat-
ing to its intended purpose even if
the machine is used properly and in
compliance with all relevant safety
regulations; e.g.:
Touching the rotating saw blade in the cutting
area.
The sharp teeth of the blade could hurt when
the saw blade is changed.
Kickback of the workpiece or of parts of the
workpiece.
Ejection of tips of TCT circular saw blades.
Breakage of the saw blade and risk of the blade
being hurled away.
Touching live parts with electrical components
open whilst the machine is not disconnected
from the mains.
Hearing can be impaired when working for long
periods without ear protectors.
Allergies or irritation of the mucous membrane
caused by wood dust or lubricants.
Avoid hazards resulting from these
residual risks by paying special
attention when setting up, working
with or servicing the machine.

Safety instructions

Woodworking machines can be
dangerous when in use. You should
therefore always follow the safety
instructions set out in this chapter,
as well as the safety regulations
applicable in the country of use!
General instructions:
Never work without the protective equipment
prescribed for the relevant operation and do not
make any modifications to the machine that
could undermine safety.
Children and young persons must not operate
this machine. This rule does not apply to young
persons over the age of 16 years receiving
training and being supervised by an expert.
Prior to all work, make sure that the safety and
operating equipment is securely attached and
undamaged. Damaged safety equipment and
parts must be correctly repaired or exchanged.
Always be aware of environmental influences.
Do not allow the machine to be exposed to the
rain and do not use the machine in a damp or
wet environment, or in the vicinity of inflam-
mable liquids or gases.
Outdoors use rubber insulated extension cables
only (e.g. HO7 RN-F) with a cross-section of at
least 1.5 mm
and avoid that any cable is
²
exposed to to sharp edges.
Only use saw blades that correspond to
EN 847-1 and the technical data stated in this
manual.
Do not use:
Cracked and misshapen saw blades.
Saw blades made of high speed steel (HSS).
Blunt saw blades which impose an exces-
sive load on the motor.
Saw blades with a body that is thicker or a
cutting width (set) that is less than the thick-
ness of the riving knife / splitter.
Saw blades which are not suitable for idling
speed of the saw blade.
Instructions on the use of personal safety equip-
ment:
Always wear close-fitting industrial clothing and
remove rings, bracelets and watches.
The sound pressure level at the workplace
exceeds 85 dB (A). Users should therefore wear
ear protectors.
To avoid eye injuries it is recommended to wear
eye-protection equipment (e.g. safety glasses)
or face guards.
Instructions on operation:
Provide an uncluttered, anti-slip location with
adequate illumination.
Set up the machine on solid ground so that the
table is horizontal and the machine cannot tip
over.
The mains cable must be connected in such a
way that there is no risk of stumbling over it.
Make sure that no other persons, especially no
children, stay within the working area.
