Troubleshooting

The determination of the causes of existing defects and their elimination always require
increased attention and caution. Pull out the mains plug beforehand!
Some of the most frequent defects and their causes are listed in the following chart. In case of other defects,
contact your dealer or the MAFELL customer service.
Defect
Machine cannot be switched on
Machine switches itself off when idling
Machine stops while cutting is in proc-
ess
Workpiece jams while being fed in
Burn marks on kerfs
Chip ejection blocked
Height adjustment tight
Cause
Power supply interrupted, e.g.
because the backup fuse of the mains
has blown
Mains failure
Automatic overload protection reacted
Blunt saw blade
Fence extension of the universal or the
multi-purpose guide fence is not
parallel with saw blade
The saw blade used is unsuitable for
the task or blunt
Operation without extractor
Extractor too weak
Pieces of wood in the chip ejector
Threaded spindle, driving segment
and guide bar dirty

Elimination
Eliminate the cause and switch on the
machine again
Check mains back-up fuse.
The built-in undervoltage protection
prevents the machine from starting up
again automatically so that it must be
switched on again once power has
been restored
Blunt saw blade or excessive feed
rate. Replace saw blade or wait for the
motor to cool down before resuming
work
Hold workpiece tight and switch off the
motor immediately. Replace saw blade
Readjust the fence extension, see par-
agraph 4.6
Replace saw blade
With machine switched off, remove
chips. To do this, open sliding cover 39
(Fig. 10 - page 4). Now chips can be
removed downwards from the chip
canal. Afterwards close the cover
again
The extractor equipment must ensure
an air velocity at the extractor hose
connector of at least 20 m/s
(65.6 ft/sec.)
Open sliding cover 39 (Fig. 10 -
page 4). Now the splinters can be eas-
ily removed downwards from the chip
canal.
If this is not completely possible try it
again after having set the cutting
height to zero. Afterwards close the
cover again
Clean and slightly lubricate these parts
