Changing the dies on ROLLER'S Rola Automatik quick-change die heads
Clamp the ROLLER'S Rola Automatik quick-change die head vertically in a vice,
close the clamping bar. Loosen the screws, lift the cover with the setting ring and
remove the dies. Insert new dies, die 1 in slit 1, etc., groove of the die facing
upwards, chamfer facing downwards. The backs of the dies must be fl ush with
the edge of the body. Fit the cover with setting ring. Make sure that the scale
mark at the edge of the cover points to the body. Tighten the screws again. Check
the function by opening and closing the die head several times, see 3.1.2.
Scale: Stroke on stroke means standard thread size. The signs + and - can be
found next to the scale mark at the edge of the body. If the cover is turned
slightly towards +, the thread-Ø is greater, towards – smaller.
5. Faults

6. Disposal
The electric die stocks may not be thrown into the domestic waste at the end
of use. They must be disposed of properly by law.

7. Manufacturer's Warranty

The warranty period shall be 12 months from delivery of the new product to the
fi rst user. The date of delivery shall be documented by the submission of the
original purchase documents, which must include the date of purchase and the
designation of the product. All functional defects occurring within the warranty
period, which are clearly the consequence of defects in production or materials,
will be remedied free of charge. The remedy of defects shall not extend or renew
the warranty period for the product. Damage attributable to natural wear and tear,
incorrect treatment or misuse, failure to observe the operational instructions,
unsuitable operating materials, excessive demand, use for unauthorized purposes,
interventions by the customer or a third party or other reasons, for which ROLLER
is not responsible, shall be excluded from the warranty.

Worn carbon brushes.
Mains lead defective.
Rotation direction lever (8) not pushed as far as it goes.
Drive unit defective.
No original ROLLER quick-change die heads in use.
Worn carbon brushes.
Blunt dies.
Unsuitable or insuffi cient thread-cutting material.
Overload protection triggers off.
Overloading due to blunt dies.
Insuffi cient air for motor cooling.
Worn carbon brushes.
Unsuitable carbon brushes.
Blunt or broken dies.
Wrong direction of rotation set.
Dies installed incorrectly.
Dies not inserted in the right order.
Quick-change die head soiled.
Defective quick-change die head.
Blunt dies.
Dies not inserted in the right order.
Poor quality pipe material.
Unsuitable thread-cutting material.
Teeth of the prism die (4) of the support device –
counter holder soiled.

Material build-up on the lock part of the die head.

4.2. Inspection / maintenance

WARNING
Pull out the mains plug before carrying out maintenance or repair work!
This work may only be performed by qualifi ed personnel.
The gears of the ROLLER'S King 1¼ and ROLLER'S King 2 electric die stocks
are maintenance-free. They run in a life-long grease fi lling and therefore need
no lubrication. The motors have carbon brushes. These are subject to wear
and must therefore by checked and changed by qualifi ed specialists or an
authorised ROLLER customer service workshop from time to time.
Remedy
Have the carbon brushes changed by qualifi ed personnel or an
authorised ROLLER customer service workshop.
Have the mains lead replaced by qualifi ed personnel or an
authorised ROLLER customer service workshop.
Push rotation direction lever (8) as far as it goes.
Have it checked/repaired by an authorised ROLLER customer
service workshop.
Only use original ROLLER quick-change die heads.
Have the carbon brushes changed by qualifi ed personnel or an
authorised ROLLER customer service workshop.
Chang dies or quick-change die head. See 4.1. for changing dies.
Use ROLLER thread-cutting material; lubricate several times
during thread cutting.
Press the overload protection (10) after the electric die stock has
cooled down for a short time.
Change dies or quick-change die head. See 4.1. for changing dies.
Clean air slits on the motor, do not cover the air slits.
Have the carbon brushes changed by qualifi ed personnel or an
authorised ROLLER customer service workshop.
Only use original ROLLER carbon brushes.
Change dies or quick-change die head. See 4.1. for changing dies.
Check position of rotation direction lever (8) and change if
necessary.
Remove die(s), re-insert in right direction, see changing dies 4.1.
Remove quick-change die head, check numbering, re-insert dies
if necessary, see changing dies 4.1.
Remove and clean quick-change die head and re-insert with oil.
Perform function check, see 3.1.2.
Change quick-change die head.

Look for the seal of quality when buying pipe material.
Use ROLLER thread-cutting material.
Clean the prism die with a wire brush.
Change the support device – counter holder.
Remove the material build-up with a fi le.
Services under the warranty may only be provided by customer service stations
authorized for this purpose by ROLLER. Complaints will only be accepted if
the product is returned to a customer service station authorized by ROLLER
without prior interference in an unassembled condition. Replaced products and
parts shall become the property of ROLLER.
The user shall be responsible for the cost of shipping and returning the product.
The legal rights of the user, in particular the right to make claims against the
seller under the warranty terms, shall not be affected. This manufacturer's
warranty only applies for new products which are purchased in the European
Union, in Norway or in Switzerland.
This warranty is subject to German law with the exclusion of the United Nations
Convention on Contracts for the International Sales of Goods (CISG).
