operATIoN
This equipment produces a fluid stream at
extremely high pressure.
Read and understand the warnings in the Safety
Precautions section at the front of this manual
before operating this equipment.
Prior to starting setup, make sure you have
i
completed the steps in section 4.2 though 4.9.
If the sprayer is new, make sure the steps in
section 4.1 have also been completed.
5.1

STArTINg The eNgINe

Follow these instructions whenever prompted in
i
this manual to start the engine.
1. Move the fuel valve lever (Fig. 13, item 1) to the open
position.
2. Move the throttle lever on the dashboard to the middle
point. The figure below shows where the throttle is
located on the engine (2). It is recommended that the
engine throttle always be controlled via the lever on the
dashboard.
3. Move the choke lever (3) to the closed position for a cold
engine or to the open position for a warm engine.
4. Turn the engine key (located on the dashboard) to the
right to start the engine, or
5. Pull the starter rope (4) briskly until the engine starts (key
must be turned to the right in the ON position).

If this unit is new, it is shipped with test fluid in
i
the fluid section to prevent corrosion during
shipment and storage.
thoroughly cleaned out of the system with
mineral spirits before you begin spraying.
Always keep the trigger lock on the spray gun in
the locked position while preparing the system.
Refer to the spray gun instruction manual for
Attention
trigger lock instructions.
1. Place the siphon tube into a container of mineral spirits.
2. Place the bleed hose into a metal waste container.
3. Turn the pressure control knob (located on the dashboard)
fully counterclockwise to its lowest pressure setting
4. Open the hydraulic motor shutoff valve (see figure 3, item
10). The handle should be in the vertical position.
5. Open the relief valve (see figure 3, item 2). The valve
handle should be in the horizontal position.
6. Start the engine (refer to section 5.1).
7. Turn the pressure control knob clockwise approximately
1/3 of the way down to increase pressure until the sprayer
cycles evenly and solvent flows freely from the bleed hose.
8. Allow the sprayer to run for 15–30 seconds to flush the
test fluid out through the bleed hose and into the waste
container.
9. Shut down the sprayer:
a) set the pressure to minimum by turning the pressure
control knob fully counterclockwise,
b) move the throttle lever to the slow position, and
c) turn the engine switch to the OFF position (turn the
key on the dashboard all the way to the left).
