NOTE: Please do not tug ("lift") on the upper end of the liner since this will result in greater tension on the liner's
edge and the skin underneath it. This can result in blisters, welts and similar symptoms.
Usage in combination with Liner Pads
If there is empty space in the distal area of the Össur Liner, due to scar indentations in the residual limb or briefly
occurring weight fluctuations, which manifests or occurs in this area, it can be compensated for by using the Liner
Pads (Fig. 10). To do so, a silicone pad corresponding to the size of the Össur Liner is selected and carefully
inserted into the Össur Liner's cup prior to donning the liner (Fig. 11). Please try it out with the wearer to prevent
improper or careless utilisation that can result in skin problems or even bruises.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

• Please note that the silicone liner and the residual limb must be washed daily with neutral soap. Turn the
silicone liner inside out, clean this side thoroughly with soap, rinse it completely with cold water, and dry the
excess water with a lint-free cloth. Turn the silicone liner outside-in and place it on the liner stand provided.
• The exterior side of the liner can be cleaned with a damp cloth.
• To prevent damaging the Össur Liner, it must always be placed in its original shape on the stand provided.
• Ensure that no foreign matter, such as sand grains, carbon or glass fibres (Orthopaedic Technician workshop
area) come in contact with the silicone liner surfaces. If soiled in this way, washing the liner is not enough to
remove these objects since they can penetrate into the silicone material, thereby ruining the liner and causing
considerable skin irritations.
• Please note that many shower gels, soaps, bath additives, deodorants, perfumes, alcohol sprays, and so on
have fragrances and dyes that can cause skin irritations. To prevent any skin problems, please inform the
wearer not to use such products on the residual limb when wearing a silicone liner.
• When initially wearing the liner, more sweating may occur in the region of the residual limb and will then
subside in the first two weeks. If this occurs, the silicone liner and the residual limb should be cleaned several
times a day. It is advisable to purchase a second silicone liner to allow for daily changes or as a replacement.
The same applies for the seasons marked by high outside temperatures. At these times, the entire body sweats
more, as does the residual limb in the silicone liner.
• If dry skin is noted, apply Iceross Clean and Simple Moisturizing Lotion to nourish and soften the skin. All
Iceross lotions are pH balanced, 100% fragrance- and dye-free and will not leave an oily residue. Do NOT apply
lotion to the residual limb immediately prior to donning the liner.
• To Protect the textile cover or the coating of the Össur Liner, we recommend wearing a stump sock. This
prevents premature wear of the aid due to chafing and friction in the socket. Rough spots in the socket can
damage the Össur Liner and result in the warranty becoming void.

SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

• Prior to donning a silicone liner, the wearer's circumstances should be checked closely and documented
(cf. "Contraindications" and "Mobility Category"). In addition, concomitant illnesses and prescribed medicines
should be checked. For example, kidney disease and accordingly prescribed drugs can result in fluctuations of
the residual limb, since water retention is reduced. As a result, the silicone liner can become too big.
• Selecting the correct size is critical. The same applies for selecting the correct matrix length.
• The Össur Liner must be thoroughly washed 2 - 3 times prior to being worn for the first time.
• The socket must be fitted with care. Changes in the impression of the liner cup on the positive plaster mould
are not permissible.
• The pin must be carefully and properly secured.
• The trim line of the liner shall not have any sharp edges, corners, or folds. These could result in the wearer
experiencing skin problems.
• Donning the liner must be explained precisely to the wearer and should be practised several times. Ensure that
the pin receptacle is seated as close to the centre of the residual limb as possible and that the pin is axially
oriented to the residual limb. Check for any trapped air. If there is trapped air, please massage it out.
• Please brief the wearer extensively on caring for the Össur Liner as well as his/her skin, since experience has
shown that skin irritation generally results from improper care of the liner.
• Give the wearer a copy of the User Instruction Manual, brief him/her thoroughly and in detail about the
products listed in it, and practice using the Össur Liner with him/her. The Össur Liner must NOT be pulled up
with sharp objects or finger nails.
• Össur Liners must not be cleaned in a washing machine.
