Connection and Getting Started
• Connect the camera's RJ45 connector to a 1:1 connected network cable and its net-
work, e.g. a network switch. The cable length between camera and router/network
switch can be up to 100 m.
• Connect the camera's low-voltage socket to the corresponding round plug on the
enclosed wall plug transformer. Plug the wall plug transformer into a wall socket.
• Insert the enclosed mini DVD in an appropriate drive on your computer. If the in-
stallation software does not start automatically, you must start the installation pro-
gramme manually. When this operating manual was prepared, the programme was
located in the DVD's main directory (programme name "Autorun.exe").
Follow the program's instructions.
Please note that the names and descriptions of the installation procedure, as de-
scribed here, may be different in newer versions of the software. In this case, please
consult the accompanying English operating manual on the DVD (PDF format).
• Start the software you just installed ("IP Discovery Tool"). It will search for cameras
available in the network. When the camera with its corresponding IP address is
shown, select the camera by double-clicking on it and then clicking on "Connect".
Please note:
There must be a DHCP server activated in your network (e.g. the DHCP server
in a router). The PC must be confi gured so it assigns an IP address automati-
cally. The camera is also assigned an IP address by the DHCP server.
If there is no DHCP server available, the camera has the IP address
192.168.1.200 (network mask 255.255.255.0). It is important that this IP ad-
dress is not already used by another device in the network. Otherwise, will not
be possible to access the camera!
• When the camera requests a user name and password, enter "admin" for both (writ-
ten in lower case letters and without quotation marks).
• We recommend that you use Internet Explorer as the internet browser in order to be
able to use all functions of the camera. Before connecting to the camera, you have
to install an ActiveX plug-in.
Depending on the security settings for your Internet Explorer an error message ap-
pears, saying a required ActiveX element cannot be installed or that the installation
of the ActiveX can be started manually by clicking on the information bar.
This ActiveX element is necessary for displaying the camera image.
• Furthermore, it may be necessary to make modifi cations to the settings for the anti-
virus or fi rewall programmes before the software will function properly.
Unfortunately, due to the variety of programs, program versions as well as operating
systems an exact description of this procedure is not possible.
• Further information on the software and camera can be found in the English operat-
ing manual on the accompanying DVD.
The operating manual is available as a PDF fi le on the DVD. To view these instruc-
tions you need a suitable program, e.g. Adobe Reader, which can be downloaded for
free at www.adobe.com.
Tips & Notes
• If there is a network or system administrator for your network (as will probably be
the case in a larger company), please let this person assume the responsibility for
connection and wiring. Do not connect the camera yourself!
• The maximum length for the Twisted-Pair cable between the camera and router/net-
work switch is 100 m. Only use 1:1 connected CAT5 or CAT5e cables.
• When the IR LEDs are activated, the camera only displays a black and white image.
• An external microphone (for example, in a PC headset or similar) can be connected
to the audio in (pink 3.5 mm jack).
You can connect, for example, an external loudspeaker (with its own amplifi er) to
the audio out (green 3.5 mm jack, line level). If you have a microphone to connected
to your PC, it is possible by means of the PC software to hold a conversation, e.g.
with someone in the monitored area.
For this purpose, you will fi nd two buttons in the software, to the left of the video
image display, "Talk" and "Listen".
• For further information on the software, please consult the English operating manual
on the accompanying DVD (PDF format).
