1 Operating Elements and Connections

1 Indicating LEDs
Indication ON/PROT.: shows
– green as an operating indication
– red if the protective circuit responds
a) for some seconds directly after switching-
on, then it changes to green
b) permanently in case of a failure or defect of
the unit
Indication LIMITER:
lights up if the integrated limiter circuit limits the
volume when reaching the maximum level not
yet distorted
Indication NORMAL:
lights up from a certain volume to the rhythm of
the music
2 Balanced XLR feed-through output, connected in
parallel to the input BAL INPUT (4), to connect an -
other active speaker system
3 Selector button for the sensitivity of the input BAL
INPUT (4):
a Press the button (LED next to it lights up) if a
microphone is connected to the input.
b Disengage the button if a unit with line level is
connected to the input.
4 Balanced input jack (combined XLR/6.3 mm jack)
for connection of a microphone or a unit with line
output level (e. g. CD player, mixer)
5 Button SUB-BOOST for a level boosting in the
lower bass range; with the button pressed (LED
next to it lights up), the function is switched on
6 Mains jack for connection to a mains socket
(230 V~/50 Hz) via the supplied mains cable
7 Support for the mains fuse;
only replace a blown fuse by one of the same type
8 Volume control
9 Equalizer for the high range (HI), midrange (MID),
and bass range (LOW)
10 Button EQ for switching on/off the 3-way equalizer
(9); with the button pressed (LED next to it lights
up), the equalizer is switched on
11 Button PHASE for matching the phase when using
several speaker systems: with the button pressed
(LED next to it lights up), the phase of the audio
signal is turned by 180°
12 On/off switch of the active speaker system
13 Button SUBSONIC for switching on/off the sub-
sonic filter (high pass): with the button pressed
(LED next to it lights up), the filter is switched on to
suppress low-frequency interference.

2 Safety Notes

This unit corresponds to all relevant directives of the
EU and is therefore marked with
WARNING The unit is supplied with hazardous
mains voltage (230 V~). Leave servic-
ing to skilled personnel only. Inexpert
handling may cause an electric shock
hazard.
It is essential to observe the following items:

The unit is suitable for indoor use only. Protect it
against dripping water and splash water, high air
humidity, and heat (admissible ambient temperature
range 0 – 40 °C).
G
Do not place any vessels filled with liquid, e. g. drink-
ing glasses, on the unit.
G
Do not set the unit into operation, and immediately
disconnect the mains plug from the mains socket if
1. there is visible damage to the unit or to the mains
cable,
2. a defect might have occurred after a drop or simi-
lar accident,
3. there are malfunctions.
The unit must in any case be repaired by skilled per-
sonnel.

Never pull the mains cable to disconnect the mains
plug from the mains socket, always seize the plug.
G
For cleaning only use a dry, soft cloth, by no means
chemicals or water.
G
If the unit is used for purposes other than originally
intended, if it is not correctly connected or operated,
or not repaired in an expert way, there is no liability
for resulting damage to persons or material and no
guarantee for the unit can be taken over.

Important for U.K. Customers!
The wires in this mains lead are coloured in accord -
ance with the following code:
green/yellow = earth
blue = neutral
brown = live
As the colours of the wires in the mains lead of this
appliance may not correspond with the coloured
markings identifying the ter minals in your plug, pro-
ceed as follows:
1. The wire which is coloured green and yellow must
be con nected to the terminal in the plug which is
mark ed with the letter E or by the earth symbol
or coloured green or green and yellow.
2. The wire which is coloured blue must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter N or coloured black.
3. The wire which is coloured brown must be con-
nected to the terminal which is marked with the
letter L or coloured red.
Warning - This appliance must be earthed.
If the unit is to be put out of operation de fini-
tively, take it to a local recycling plant for dis-
posal which is not harmful to the en viron-
ment.
