Flexair in heating installations
Micro-bubbles that are released from the water in the boiler (high temperature) will later dissolve
elsewhere in the system (lower temperature) if they are not immediately removed. To discharge air
from the system as efficiently as possible, the Flexair air separator should therefore be installed in the
hot leg immediately after the boiler or mixing valve (fig. 5, page 23).
Installing the Flexair on the inlet side of the circulation pump(s) prevents large air bubbles from damaging
the pump(s) without reducing the bubbles to smaller air bubbles (fig. 6, page 23). Even if the
circulation pump is installed in the cold leg, the Flexair air separator must be placed in the hot leg.
Flexair in cooling installations
Air bubbles in the system will be larger before the chiller than after it. This is caused by the lower
water temperature after the chiller. For optimum ventilation of the installation, the Flexair must be
installed just before the cooling element in the cold leg (fig. 7, page 23).
By installing the Flexair before the circulation pump, the air bubbles will also be prevented from
causing damage to the pump (fig. 7, page 23). For static heights above the Flexair exceeding 30 m,
we recommend that a Flexair be installed on each floor above the 30 m level. This is to release the air
that comes free as a result of the decrease in static pressure on the higher floors (fig. 8, page 23).
